A bit of history

Colt "Python" was the first self-cocked revolver company "Colt", released in the postwar period. The public was introduced to it in 1955 as the company's main weapon line. In the barrel of the revolver, the thread was applied in steps of 1:14, which along with a successful trunking system ensured the gun an excellent shooting accuracy. In addition, the Colt "Python" (the photo shows how stylish he was) was the first revolver of the company "Colt", which was shot directly at the factory with the help of a laser collimator sight. Some of the first samples were made with nickel plated. However, such a finish was refused, and now you can find Colt "Python", or made of carbon steel with blue blued, or completely made of stainless steel.

The revolver immediately became very popular, especially among law enforcement officers. "Python" with a six-inch barrel was a uniform weapon of officers of the American police. But over time, he shared the fate of other revolvers and was driven out of the police and army by automatic pistols. In the nineties, large-scale production stopped, and until 2005 Colt "Python" was made only in an exclusive version - Colt Python Elite. Then the production was rolled up completely. However, Colt "Python" has not lost its popularity to the present day. It sells well in the private arms market, is constantly used for filming in movies and is used as a model in a large number of computer games. "Python" served as a prototype for the design of many modern revolvers, and not only produced by the company "Colt." He was often ordered individually by Hollywood stars, kings and Arab sheikhs.

The revolver was produced with barrels of various lengths. The longest was the Python Target model of 203 millimeters. In the standard version, the Python barrel can be 102 or 152 millimeters. Initially, the revolver was made for the cartridge 357 Magnum, but from it you can shoot and cartridges 38 Special.
