Circulation pumps for heating systems: a general characteristic

Circulating pumps for heating systems are becoming very popular today. The main advantage of the device is energy saving. The fact is that it accelerates the circulation of the coolant in the pipes and promotes rapid heating of the rooms. As for the design of the device, it is not difficult. We can distinguish such elements: the body (steel, brass or cast iron), a rotor (ceramic or steel), a wheel-impeller, a rotating rotor, and an engine that ensures the operation of all elements.

It should be noted that the water level in the expansion tank remains at the same level, regardless of whether the device is turned on or not.

Circulating pumps for heating systems should be classified into two types - "wet" and "dry". If you use the first type of apparatus, the rotor with the impeller is partially in the water. In this case, the unheated coolant can cool the running motor. In this case, it is necessary to pay special attention to the material of the body: it must not be corroded.

In "dry" pumps, the rotor does not come in contact with water, as it is separated from it by a special plate. This type of device can be classified in more detail into vertical, block and horizontal pumps.

"Wet" circulation pumps for heating systems function for a long time without additional maintenance, practically do not create noise. However, a major drawback of the presented device is its not very high coefficient of efficiency. Therefore, it is best to use it in small houses or apartments. Although modern devices are already made somewhat improved.

Naturally, regardless of the type of unit, it must be properly placed in the system. For example, "wet" devices are only horizontal and can be installed on both the supply and return pipes. As for the installation itself, it can be done even by yourself. Circulating pumps for heating systems are installed using spanners and bypasses. Additionally, you need to install a filter that will not allow large debris to get inside the device. Also, on the pipe in which the bypass (a pipe that is parallel to the pump) will be installed, it will be necessary to mount a shut-off valve. This will make it possible to use the design without a pump.

As for the question of how to choose circulating pumps for heating systems, then it is already necessary to pay attention to the length of the pipes, the operating conditions of the device, as well as the needs of each individual house or apartment. It is important to take into account the pump's power and the speed with which it pumps the coolant through the system. It is best to choose an aggregate in which you can adjust these two parameters. Too powerful devices to buy is not worth it to protect yourself from unnecessary noise.

Now there are a huge number of manufacturers on the market: Lowara, DAB, as well as circulating pumps for Wilo heating systems. The choice of a brand depends on its reputation.
