Choice of material for cabinet furniture

For the correct evaluation of the quality of furniture, first of all, it is necessary to evaluate the material that went into its production. In this article, we will review the characteristics of the most commonly used basic materials for the manufacture of cabinet furniture.

1. The tree.
The given material is certainly magnificent in the visual plan, and also it is absolutely harmless to health. Also worth noting is the valuable quality of the tree, as its strength. But at the same time this material does not have high indicators of moisture and durability, and it is also fire dangerous. The most solid wood species are oak, beech, walnut and cherry. And the softest such breed is recognized as pine, which requires careful handling.

2. Wood stove.
There are two types of such slabs: chipboard (chipboard), which is made from small chips and chips, as well as MDF (Middle Density Fiberboard, and in Russian - medium dense fibrous coating). Such a material is produced from sawdust, which was previously ground to a powder state. Wood boards for furniture manufacture are covered with a veneer or a laminate, imitating both a texture, and color of various breeds of a tree. Thanks to this coating, furniture is also protected from scratches and erasures, as well as from exposure to elevated temperatures, moisture, household chemicals and ultraviolet radiation.

When choosing furniture and chipboard covered with veneer, make sure that all the plates of this veneer are harmoniously combined in texture and color with each other.

3. Metal.
The main disadvantage of metal furniture is corrosion with the subsequent formation of rust. And therefore, such furniture should have a special coating, which helps to prevent corrosion processes. This is achieved through the use of chrome plating or anti-corrosion treatment by special means. Such furniture can also be made of titanium and aluminum, which are more resistant to corrosion.

4. Mirrors and glass.
Both of these materials have one significant drawback - the furniture that is made of them will be very fragile. To increase the resistance of such materials, furniture manufacturers prefer to use the safe look of glass and mirrors. Safety is achieved by gluing sheets of this material onto a synthetic film. And this increases the permissible loads, and even if the glass or mirror is broken, it does not scatter into fragments.
It is also worth noting that there are a lot of varieties of such material, glass can be absolutely transparent and toned, as well as matte and colored, and if we talk about mirrors, they can also be bronze, graphite, gold, green and blue.

5. An artificial stone.
As a rule, this material is made of a mineral fire-resistant filler, acrylic resin and various pigments. It is completely harmless, it is very difficult to break or scratch, and in the case of scratches, they are easily eliminated with sandpaper. And although the appearance of artificial stone completely corresponds to a similar type of natural stone, it has much less weight.

Thanks to the development of technologies, now there is such a topical proposal as a "sprayed stone", which is very simply applied to any other material used to make cabinet furniture, if necessary. And it looks very impressive and beautiful.
