Change the Toyota thermostat with your own hands

A defective Toyota thermostat can cause serious malfunctions in the engine cooling system. Signs of this breakdown may be a longer warm-up of the car, boiling antifreeze and incorrect operation of the stove. Therefore, if a fault is found, replace the old part immediately with a new one. That is positive, this process is not very difficult and does not require special skills, so today we will consider how to change the "toyot" thermostat with our own hands.

Instruments

All we need to replace is a Phillips screwdriver, a head and a 10-mm wrench . Also before replacement, prepare 1.5-2 liters of new coolant and, of course, a new thermostat.

The process of dismantling and installation: the stages of the procedure

To be able to change the thermostat, Toyota must be cooled (that is, the temperature of its engine should not be working). Otherwise, you can burn your fingers. So, when our engine is cold, open the hood and remove the air filter housing. To do this, you need to remove the cover, unfasten the clamps, unscrew the clamp and use a head to unscrew a few bolts. It is important to remember that before this stage, the air sensor must be disconnected.

Next, using a spanner on 10, unscrew the two bolts and disconnect the thermosensor terminal. It is possible that at the moment the antifreeze will flow, therefore, when you change the thermostat, Toyota should be with a new coolant. So we got to the main part. We extract it from the fastenings and install a new one in its place.

You can assemble the electronic thermostat in a similar order, but here you should remember a few nuances. After this part is completely fixed and all sensors are connected, it is necessary to start the motor and check the tightness of the connections. After 1-2 minutes turn off the ignition and pour a new antifreeze into the radiator (no more than one liter). Still about the same amount we will need to fill in the expansion diaphragm tank. You need to pour until the coolant reaches Full. After a few minutes after the engine has been running, this figure is normalized and the needle falls to the middle. To fill up already nothing it is necessary neither in a radiator, nor in an expansion tank.

After replacing such a device as a thermostat, Toyota will regain its former qualities. The machine will quickly warm up, and the engine will not boil. The cabin will provide a normal flow of warm and hot air. By the way, on all the "Japanese" the stove, if in good condition, is so productive that after 15 minutes of operation you can safely open the windows and go so on the road, even if overboard is minus 20.

In total, to replace the thermostat, we spent 500 rubles and 15 minutes of time. The operating temperature of the engine does not exceed 95 degrees Celsius and does not fall below 83 degrees.
