Cedarwood: an effective healing resin

Cedar sapwood (turpentine) is a Siberian cedar resin . It has a greenish-yellow color, in consistence and appearance resembles honey bees, has a characteristic coniferous smell. Cedar gum is extracted during the vegetative period by the method of podschki, in which wood is injured - from them, the resin expires. In addition, it has rubber, rubbernatols, vitamins D and C, impurities of plant matter.

From the point of view of the latter, the medicinal properties of terpentine have been known for a long time to people inhabiting the Urals and Siberia. Gum has bactericidal, anesthetic and healing effect. It is effectively used to treat snake bites, chronic ulcers. In folk medicine, it was applied to furuncles, abscesses, fracture sites.
Cedar resin helps with diseases of teeth and gums. The vapor of turpentine, heated on coals, helps with the ailments of respiratory organs.

In the first half of the XX century, medical balm was invented, which became an indispensable drug in hospitals during the war. It was made by mixing strained and purified gum with vaseline or various oils. Dressings impregnated with this drug were used for suppuration and infection of wounds, gangrene.

Not only does the external action exert citrus sapwood, the use of medications on the basis of it is also widespread. It is used to treat diseases of the gastrointestinal tract: anacid gastritis, colitis, hepatitis, enterocolitis, cholecystitis, to restore organ microflora.

It produces camphor, which has a stimulating effect on the respiratory and cardiovascular system. From turpentine can get turpentine, widely used in folk medicine for rheumatism, arthritis, gout, bronchitis. They help preparations based on gum in angina, ARI, frostbite, skin diseases, prostatitis, mastitis, hemorrhoids and even with inflammation of the ternary nerve.

Quite often it is used in combination with cedar oil. In addition, among the healers there is an opinion that the greatest healing effect has a resin that has leaked from the damaged tree or its branches naturally. There are practically no contraindications to its use, except for individual intolerance of the substance.
