The reason for this lies in the fact that such material is durable and wear-resistant. These properties are provided by the fact that graphite is added to the alloy.

Despite the fact that there are differences in the requirements for the technological process, which are explained by the specific features of the activities of individual customers, there is a general requirement. It consists in the fact that the manufacture of cast iron castings must comply with the characteristics of the parts, which are indicated in the drawings and documents.

Methods

Casting of cast iron in cold-hardening mixtures is one of the modern technologies. This solution assumes that the molds are made from a mixture that incorporates binding elements, for example, resins. The advantage of a mold made from such a mixture is an increased tightness. Due to this, the possibility that in the production process the integrity of the product structure will be broken is excluded.

Popularity also uses casting using sand molds. This technology uses sand, which was compacted. This method is suitable for the serial production of large parts, for example, blades for turbines or large parts of other mechanisms.

Currently, cast iron castings are undergoing active development. In the technological sphere new production methods are successfully introduced.
