Career of Costa Rican football player Brian Ruiz

Brian Ruiz - a footballer from Costa Rica, now playing for the Portuguese "Sporting". He is already 31 years old, so his best times are behind him - he reached the peak of his career during the game for Fulham. Brian Ruiz's main position is the left winger, however he can play along the whole front of the attack, that is, the right winger, and the central attacking midfielder.

Carier start

The birthplace of Brian Ruiz - Costa Rica, where he began to get involved in football, joining the academy club "Alajuela". There he spent all his youth, at the age of 18 signing a professional contract with the club. It was in 2003, and Costa Rican FC immediately introduced the young talent into the core team. For three years Ruiz has grown seriously, having received an impressive amount of game practice - he played 68 matches, scoring 25 goals. Naturally, such performances attracted the attention of European scouts, and in the summer of 2006 young talent Brian Ruiz was signed by the Belgian "Ghent". So began his European adventure, where he managed to change more than one club and add to the championship title Costa Rica and the victory in the North American Cup is still a lot of trophies.

Moving to Europe

In the "Genet" Ruiz Bryan immediately got a place at the base and began to demonstrate that he was not afraid of change. For the three years he spent in the new place, the winger appeared on the field 79 times, scoring 26 goals. Naturally, he could not stay at that level forever, especially given that he constantly added as a game. Therefore, in 2009, for five and a half million euros, it was signed by the Dutch "Twente", where the Costa Rican finally blossomed.

Going to Twente

In the Dutch club Ruiz spent only two seasons, but during this time managed to become a local star. He played 65 games, scoring as many as 35 goals, becoming one of the most important factors that in 2010, "Twente" won the Dutch Championship, and in 2011 - the Dutch Cup. And in 2011, the English "Fulham" laid out for the player twelve million euros, opening Brian the way to the top championship.

Exit to the peak in Fulham

It was in the English club Ruiz was able to reach its peak. Unfortunately, he did not win the trophies there, as the English championship was much higher in level than all he had previously played in, and Fulham was far from the leading club. There, the Costa Rican spent two and a half years showing an incredible game, but gradually began to surrender and in the winter of 2014 was given a half-year lease in "PSV". There he played 14 games, scoring five goals, and then returned to "Fulham". There he spent another year, bringing his statistics for the team to 97 matches and 12 goals, and went to the Portuguese "Sporting", who paid for it only 1.5 million euros.

The game for "Sporting"

In "Sporting" Ruiz spent one season in which he played in 35 games and scored 8 goals, having won only the Super Cup of Portugal. In the current season he entered the field already in 9 games, scoring 2 goals and giving four assists.

National team appearances

For the national team of Costa Rica Ruiz has played 92 games, entering the top ten in the number of games played in the national team's T-shirt. He also entered the top ten in the number of goals scored - they are accounted for by Brian Ruiz 21.
