Care of kittens

At first, after the appearance of kittens, the mother cat tries not to leave her babies for a long time. They are still blind and very weak during this period. Their eyelids are tightly closed, but there are also cases of birth of kittens with open eyes, which is pathology. Such animals remain blind.

Care of the kittens in the first days of life is placed on the cat. She feeds them and watches their toilet. In search of food, the kitten pokes into the cat's stomach, trying to find a nipple. In this case, between the kittens there is a healthy competition - they repel each other, paws, but immediately calm down when they start to drink milk. The nipple "dissolves" within 40-60 hours.

Every day the kitten is added in weight of 10-20 g, and for the first week each of them doubles the mass. In healthy kittens, the eyes begin to open on the 8th-10th day. At first they are blue, but after a few weeks they change color.

Care for kittens in the first days of life

Kittens have a very good sense of smell and distinguish between people caring for them, while still "blind." Toddlers hiss, feeling new smells, even if they come from the hands of the person who has already courted them. Since the first days of life, contact with the kittens is necessary in order to teach them to themselves. If this is not done, then at the age of 4-6 weeks they "run wild" and will respond to a person's touch with a protective pose.

The life of a kitten changes significantly after he opens his eyes and starts to see. His eyes are very sensitive at first and react sharply to bright light. Soon he becomes playful and inquisitive, begins to get out of his hiding place, releasing claws. Little kittens, care for which is very important in the first month of their life, are still weak and easily catch cold, so it is advisable to place them in a tall box in a place that is protected from draft.

Caring cat all the time watching the kittens, affectionately purrs, something "tells" them. If she is worried about something, she transfers her children and hides in a secluded place.

Development of kittens

The development of kittens is very fast. From the fourth week of life they are already running around, playing with each other, their teeth are punched.

The cat watches the babies and in advance selects for them a special "playground". An inexperienced mother is often nervous, because she is not able to keep kittens in the "house", and adult cats themselves drag the cubs into the room that they like best.

From the first days the kittens "struggle for survival". They learn to fight, they hiss at each other. Suck, purr, sniff, and also emptied - this is all the kitten does instinctively. To drink milk or water from a plate, he can learn from a cat mother.

During the first 4-5 weeks, the mother cat catches the kittens, but later, when they eat alone, she teaches the kittens to be emptied in a special place.

Care of kittens (1 month) is important for the owner of animals. During this period it is necessary to teach them to cope with the need in the allotted place. For such purposes a small flat toilet is suitable for the kitten. Several trays should be placed in the corners.

From the 4th week you need to start feeding the kittens. To do this, balls of minced meat, which can be moistened in egg yolk. Care for kittens continues even when they can already eat on their own. They should add vitamin preparations and calcium in the dairy food, alternating it with meat food. Kittens need to be fed up to 6 times a day. In this case, if the mother cat still has milk, its kittens suck after taking a solid feed. Each kitten needs to be provided with an individual food dish, the size of which should be about 10 cm in diameter.

If the kittens are already more than eight weeks old, they start playing more gustily, sometimes fighting and hissing. The cat calms them down, puts things in order, and can even tinker with one of them.

Care for kittens will not be complete if they do not get vaccinated. Only after vaccination can you pass kittens to another owner.

Kittens are considered completely independent when they become sexually mature.
