Harvest preparation for storage

If this is not possible, the crop is dried under a canopy or directly in the room. The main condition will be good ventilation and purging.

Methods of storing onions
Each onion bulb can be stored for a long time when using the following auxiliaries:
- Boxes. They can be purchased at the store or manufactured independently. Suitable as plastic and wooden samples. The main condition is the presence of holes for ventilation. Also, boxes significantly save space, because they can be stacked on top of each other.
- Cardboard boxes are handy and the most accessible means. For such purposes, tight specimens will fit in which special holes will be made.
- Baskets. It is best to use several baskets not more than 10 centimeters deep. Otherwise, the bulbs lying in the middle will quickly decay and deteriorate.
- Tissue bags. They must necessarily be made of natural materials, such as linen or cotton.
- Packages of heavy paper. One package should be designed for a bow portion of 4-5 kilograms, otherwise the vegetables can deteriorate.
- Grids made of polypropylene. They are the most common way to store. Such material is well ventilated, and in the event that one onion starts to rot, it can be seen and cleaned without having to go through the whole harvest.
Storage space
Many housewives are wondering how to store bulbs. To begin with, it is worth remembering that the optimum temperature for these vegetables is 18-22 ° C. Proceeding from this, the following places are selected:
- Before the onset of cold weather, the onion can be kept on the balcony.
- Then it must be moved to the storeroom, it is recommended to avoid neighborhood with carrots, potatoes or beets.
- You can also store onions in the kitchen, placing vegetables in an empty place.
