Blankets: sizes for children and adults. What are the factory sizes of blankets?

Comfort and favorable climate in the house are unquestionably important things. Our mood and relations with each other are made up of small things. We always feel better in a room where the order reigns, all the objects are on the ground. If the life is adjusted incorrectly, there may be extra reasons for quarrels. After reading this article, you can avoid such trouble as the unsuccessful purchase of a blanket, the size of which does not suit you. Hence, save your money and your nerves.

Buying a blanket that is not properly sized will certainly upset you more than, say, an unsuccessfully chosen fabric for bedding. So, to properly choose the dimensions, you need to remember simple rules.

What you need to consider

Dimensions of a sleeping place and duvet cover you need to know before you go for a purchase. Very unpleasant, if it turns out that the blanket, for example, will be significantly larger than the cover for it. There is no question of comfort and comfortable rest in this case. Also, the blanket should not impede movement during rest. This is primarily true of married couples. If the husband and wife like to rest, comfortably wrapped in a blanket, it is worth thinking about buying an euro or family kit and the appropriate bedding.

Now let's go directly to the size of the blanket. The modern market seems to be so diverse that before choosing almost any product most people now plow the expanses of the Internet or read special literature. This is especially unusual for the representatives of that generation, a significant part of whose active life fell during the Soviet era.

Choose a blanket: dimensions, standard

At the beginning of the XXI century, a separate GOST was adopted, which regulates the dimensions of bedding. Allocate one and a half, double, euro, family and children's kits. Here everything is logical. Names are made up of the size of the sleeping place.

A half-quilted blanket can reach a meter in width (such options are now produced very little, since they are not very comfortable) or 1.5 meters, a double-2 meters. Separately it is necessary to note non-standard blankets, which sometimes are simply gigantic in size. Their width reaches sometimes five meters.

When buying, pay attention to the fact that the size on the package was affixed in two versions: European (alphabetic designation) and Russian (in centimeters).

One- or half-quilt blanket

It is intended for one person. If, for example, a couple sleeps on separate beds made up together, it will also be more convenient to dwell on this type of bedding. The size of a single blanket can vary, and there are quite a few options.

  • 155x215 cm - the most common dimensions.
  • 140x205 cm - the classic size of a single blanket, adopted in Soviet times. Such bedding is ideal for those with a small bed. Also, blankets of this type are recommended to be purchased for grown up children. They are also procured for conscripted soldiers.
  • 160x205 cm - the size of a half-quilted blanket, which is rare and is non-standard.
  • 160х220 cm and 160х215 cm are also non-standard variants.

European designation: 1-bed, 1,5-bed.

Size of 2 sleeping blankets

  • 200х220 cm - the most versatile and very comfortable products for which it is easy to choose bed linen, which is important.
  • 200х200 cm - blankets of a square shape, in the Russian market, as a rule, they do not. Widespread in Germany, Italy, France.
  • 195x215 cm - less common European size, not as popular as the previous one, because it is slightly less convenient.
  • 172x205 cm - "Soviet" blankets habitual for the residents of the former USSR, which are also called "English", because, in addition to the Soviet Union, they were popular in the UK.

  • 220x240 cm - the size is great for those who own a large bed - more than 180 centimeters in width. Such bedding is also called euro-maxi or royal blankets. They are great for large people. If you chose this particular product, remember that it is quite difficult to choose bed linen for its size. Buying a large blanket is fraught with additional spending.

European designation:

  • For a double bed - 2-bed;
  • For euro-maxi or royal-king-size.

Baby bedding

Dimensions of blankets for newborns, as a rule, are 100x135 cm or 100x140 cm. The child can take shelter for about three years, in the future it will be better to purchase a one and a half variant.

There is another child size - 90x90 cm. Such a blanket is ideal not only for a baby crib, but for a cradle. It is used, as a rule, up to three to six months. Also they can cover the baby in the stroller.

However, it should be borne in mind that newborn babies always throw off the blanket, so it's better to stay on the size "with a margin" in order to be able to turn the product under the mattress. With the same goal manufacturers produce models on laces and Velcro.

Quite often blankets for newborns are sold complete with beads and beautiful underwear. It is very convenient to purchase such a set, since you will not have to think about the fact that the products you buy correspond to each other.

Separately, you must specify the size of the blanket for newborns on the statement. The most convenient option is 100x100 or 90x90. In such products the baby is easy to wrap, and your precious "package" will not look cumbersome.

European designation: kids or children.

Requirements for baby blankets

Regardless of the size of the bedding for children should have the following properties:

  • Be hypoallergenic. Every year the number of toddlers is increasing, and there is no need to create an extra threat to the child's health. Hypoallergenic baby blanket reduces the risk of irritation and allergic reactions.
  • Be warm enough to warm the baby.
  • Letting in air , so that even a baby, covered up with a head, could breathe without problems. Otherwise, a greenhouse effect is created - the child will be hot and uncomfortable. Counting on a calm sleep under such a blanket is not necessary, in addition, the risk of hypoxia increases.
  • Be hygroscopic. Babies often sweat in a dream, and the blanket should not prevent the evaporation of moisture.
  • It is easy to wear off and keep the shape and properties after washing and drying.

Unusual models

Having examined the standard sizes of blankets, you need to tell a bit about those options that do not comply with GOST. Here, of course, include "royal" models, which, as already mentioned above, are created specifically for large people and large beds. Another category of non-standard blankets are products of unusual shapes: round, oval, square.

Preferring an unusual size or shape, think as much as necessary. If you have a large bed or you, for example, own a chic round bed, then this acquisition is justified. Remember that for a blanket, the size of which does not meet the generally accepted standards, it is always more difficult to choose bed linens. Think about this in advance, so that in the future the new acquisition does not disappoint you.

Now let's talk about the little tricks that you need to know when choosing a blanket and bed linen.

Take the kit "with a margin"

Picking up bed linen, remember that the duvet cover is better to take a few centimeters more (both in length and width) than a blanket. It will be much more convenient to fill it. If you choose high-quality bed linens and follow the prescribed temperature regime, it certainly will not sit down. However, if you, for example, wash the duvet cover at a temperature of 60 degrees, when the manufacturer, as a rule, recommends a mode of not more than 30-40 degrees, then you can wait for an unpleasant surprise - the laundry can significantly decrease in size. Therefore, it is better to take a kit with a stock.

Trust but check

When choosing bed linen, you may encounter the following problem: the manufacturer stated that the width of the duvet cover is 200 cm, but in practice it is smaller. If possible, measure the width and length of the product directly in the store to avoid trouble.

How a blanket can change the size

Buying a product with such a filler, such as swan feathers, which is also not sewn very often, consider that it can "rise" and slightly decrease in the total area (up to 7 centimeters). This is due to the fact that the products are usually stored in vacuum packaging, and at the time of presentation they may not have fully finished yet.

When choosing a blanket, dimensions are one of the most important criteria. Also it is necessary to pay attention to the filler of the product. Regardless of which padding you prefer, it is very important that the blanket helps maintain body temperature during sleep. It is believed that fillers such as bamboo and eucalyptus fiber are universal, that is, they cool in the heat and warm in the cool season. However, most people prefer to buy two products in the old manner: one for winter, the second for summer. Here the choice is entirely yours. Knowing the standard sizes of blankets, you can pick up the one that you need.
