Bitumen primer in roofing works

Primer bituminous belongs to the class of primers, which consist of a concentrated solution of high-quality petroleum bitumen dissolved in organic solvents. The preparation of the primer is not only in the form of a concentrate, which is diluted before use to the required consistency, but also in the form of a ready-made solution that can be used immediately.

Primer bituminous is widely used for priming concrete and metal surfaces. It promotes the high-quality gluing of the welded materials used in waterproofing and roofing works, as well as soft tiles. In addition, it promotes better adhesion of waterproofing lubricating mastics to the surface.

Primer bituminous "TechnoNIKOL" has a number of advantages that are inherent only in this kind of building material:

• Only organic solvents and high quality petroleum bitumen are used for the production of the product. That is why it is characterized by high heat capacity with penetrating ability, rapid drying and lack of stickiness.
• Primer bituminous has good compatibility with almost all bitumen-polymer and bituminous materials.

• Due to its high penetrating ability, it belongs to the class of high-quality waterproofing materials. Its use allows waterproofing of roll or non- roll type.
• Its use makes it possible to produce better adhesion of waterproofing materials to dusty, porous and rough surfaces.

Currently, the bitumen primer is one of the best materials in the primer class that is used in roof construction. Its application is the guarantor of carrying out of qualitative works, but only at corresponding preparation of the basis. The surface to be treated must be strong, dry, clean, free from substances that contribute to reducing adhesion. If required, the surface must be further degreased.

The primer is applied by any suitable painting tools in each particular case. It can be airless or air spray, brush, fur roller, spill and then distributing the primer to the base with a rubber mop. If concentrate is used, it is diluted to gasoline or white spirit to the required consistency. When going to work with a primer, you should know that the primer is bituminous, the material consumption is in the range from 150 to 300 grams per square meter, it directly depends on the type of surface treated (concrete, iron or asphalt).

The primer is a combustible material, therefore, safety precautions should be taken when carrying out work. It is strictly forbidden to smoke or light a fire near it. Care must be taken to ensure that the material does not reach the exposed areas of the skin, mouth, etc. If the primer is still in the eyes, immediately wash them with plenty of water and immediately seek help from a doctor. At the construction site, where work is carried out with the use of combustible materials, there must be necessary fire extinguishing means.
