Begonia evergreen - a gift for florists

Begonia evergreen has its name on behalf of the governor of Begon, who opened it and brought it to Europe from Brazil in 1821.

Begonia is an ever-flowering herbaceous perennial, the height of the plant varies from five centimeters to forty. The foliage of the plant is large, heart-shaped, "fatty", green saturated color. Flowers are terry and non-marble, white, pink and red shades, their size is from two to five centimeters. Simultaneously, the plant can be opened from ten to forty flowers, and on new varieties, such as "Super Olympia", and up to seventy. The top of the plant is entirely covered with flowers.

The most famous varieties of begonia evergreen were excreted in Germany. Also, the selection of begonias is practiced in Japan. Leaders in the production of begonia seeds of ever-flowering are the firms: Sakata, Benari, Singenta. The best varieties are: FireMer - fiery red, Mignon - with dark pink, Erfordia - carmine pink, Rosabella - pink, as well as White pearl - with white.

Begonia is ever-flowering. Reproduction.

It multiplies by seeds, cuttings, division of a bush. The fastest and easiest way is to subdivide the bush. We dig the plant out of the ground and gently cut it into pieces so that each part has three shoots and enough roots. We put the divided parts again. To multiply begonia by cuttings, it is necessary to cut the twigs about 10 centimeters from the adult plant. Root them in water or soil, using root stimulants, such as heteroauxin or indolyl butyric acid. After rooting, small plants are planted in small pots with a universal flower ground. They are watered very moderately, and when the flower is rooted, watering is intensified.

Begonia also germinates from the seeds. They are small, pulverized, the germination is easily lost if the seeds lie down for a long time. Therefore, only those that are collected in the current year are used. Since light is required for seed distillation, they are not sprinkled. Germination occurs at 21-23 degrees Celsius and at a humidity of 95% and higher for two to three weeks. The length of the light day should be 14 hours. It must be ensured that the soil is wet all the time. Young plants should not dry out. The water temperature during irrigation should be at least 18 degrees. In the next four to six weeks, the temperature should be 20-21 degrees, and humidity about 70%. In the following weeks the temperature drops by another one or two degrees. With proper care, begonia that was sown in January will blossom in May.

Dive in about six weeks, in the stage of two real leaves. The distance between the plants after the picking is four to six centimeters. Picks stimulate the formation of roots. After 12 weeks after planting, the plants are planted in pots. We use a loose, fertile soil, which does not contain salt.

As soon as the plant in the pot rooted, after about three to four weeks, you can begin to feed a complex fertilizer every two weeks.

Begonia does not like excessive humidity. Watering begonia is best in the pallet. Do not spray. The plant blooms throughout the year. In winter, because of a lack of light, shoots can be stretched, then in spring they must be cut off. In winter, the top layer of the soil must necessarily dry up. Another drawback of this beautiful flower is that even a small frost can provoke the death of shoots and succulent leaves of begonia.

Begonia eternal blooming is a universal plant. It can be either street or room culture. Begonia can be planted on a bed, in containers. She will feel fine in the pot on the windowsill as well.

The main thing in caring for this pleasing year round with its abundant flowering and beauty bush - do not pour excessively with water and do not freeze, in time to feed fertilizers.
