Bath volume: how to determine and choose the best option

Each of us takes a shower or bath every day. And if in Soviet times all the baths in the apartments were the same, today the market allows you to experiment. All kinds of shapes and a variety of colors allow to create a truly cozy atmosphere in this secret room. But the most important point is to correctly determine the size and volume of the bath when buying.

Types of baths

About varieties of sanitary ware can speak for an infinitely long time. All baths can be conditionally divided into several criteria, which should be assessed before going to the store.

  • Size and volume of the bath. How to determine it, you will learn a little later.
  • The form.
  • Color and design.
  • The material from which the bathtub is made.
  • Color scale of the bathroom.
  • Functional.

Each of these parameters can affect the final choice, because the bath is bought once and for many years, which means that it should be comfortable, safe, durable.

Cast-iron baths

Everyone remembers old baths that were installed in Soviet apartments. Heavy cast iron construction on legs, covered with sliding doors-shields or just a curtain.

Modern cast iron baths are also relevant. They keep the heat of the water for a long time, serve for dozens of years, are noiseless due to the wall thickness, but, as a rule, 2-3 times more expensive than analogues. The volume of a cast iron bath depends on its size and depth. If we take standard samples in the size of 150x70, then their average volume is from 152 to 169 liters, depending on the depth. It's a pity that the cast iron baths do not shine with a variety of shapes.

Steel Baths

Unlike its heavyweight colleagues, the steel bath is more convenient to transport and install. Yes, and it warms up during filling, it is much faster, because the thermal conductivity of steel is better than that of cast iron. Steel bath is easier to update if necessary, as well as pick up accessories. And the price for such a model is very acceptable.

You can not keep silent about the disadvantages of a steel bath. Unfortunately, the water in it quickly cools, and if you drop something heavy, dents and scratches may appear. But with proper operation and careful attitude this option remains the most profitable of all.

Acrylic bathtubs

Not so long ago this type of sanitary ware was on sale. It's worth noting that acrylic baths have found their place in the market quickly and are gaining popularity every year. In fact, it is a plastic container, reliably reinforced by reinforcement. The quality of the acrylic bathroom depends on the number of layers of threads.

Unlike steel, such baths are more heat-consuming, and weigh several times less than cast-iron ones, which makes them an excellent option for any apartment. In addition, the range of acrylic bathtubs is very large: many variations of shapes and colors, sizes and positions. Another plus is ease of care. Even if you slightly damaged the surface, you can easily get rid of the defect with sandpaper. So if you are looking for just such a model, it remains only to determine how much bath you need. Acrylic bathtubs are available from 140 to 250 liters.

Bathroom for a small room

Repair in a small room, whether it is a bathroom or a bedroom, is always a problem. You need to fit everything you need, while creating the illusion of space. Therefore, the choice of a bathroom for small rooms - it's special. Of course, I want to have a bigger bath, especially if you like to spend several hours in warm water after a hard day's work. But this is not always real.

Immediately it is necessary to make a reservation that a cast-iron bath for a small room will not work. First, it is rather cumbersome in itself and will create a tightness effect. Well, and secondly, cast-iron baths are produced in standard sizes and shapes, which is not very appropriate in your case. But acrylic and steel baths - an ideal option, as their range is very diverse. You can choose a small classic, angular, circular or even sedentary. The main thing is to know exactly the volume of the bath. How to determine it, now we'll figure it out. In fact, this is not difficult at all.

How to determine the volume

As a rule, in stores on the price lists are prescribed not only dimensions such as height, width and length, but also the volume of the bath in liters. This indicator is important for many, because the more it is, the stronger it hits the monthly payment for water. If, for some reason, there is no bath volume on the rating plate, ask the consultant to show the passport for it. The manufacturer always obligatorily indicates the exact figure.

If we talk about online stores, then the volume of bath in liters is not always indicated. But to calculate it yourself is not difficult, it is enough to recall the school course of mathematics and find three main values: length, width and height. According to the classical formula we multiply these figures, and they are always indicated in the product card, and we get the volume of the bath in liters. For example, your bathtub is 170 cm long, 65 cm wide and 42 cm high. Translates m decimeters and multiply: 17x6.5x4.4 = 464.1 cubic decimeters or liters (1 dm 3 = 1 liter).

Harder the situation is with non-standard bathrooms, in which different parts differ in size. But again the school course of mathematics will help. Consider the example of a rounded model, one part of which is 55 cm in length and the other is 65 cm in height. The height of the bathroom is the same - 45 cm. We calculate the area of the semicircle by translating centimeters into decimeters for convenience: 3,14х5,5х6,5: 2 = 56, 1275 dm 2 . The resulting number is multiplied by the height of the bath: 56,1275x4,5 = 252 cubic decimeters. We translate into liters and get the volume of the bath - about 250 liters. As you can see, there is nothing complicated in the calculations. Now you can easily choose the right bath for your bathroom and save on water!
