Attractions of Karaganda: photo with names

Karaganda is a wonderful city in Kazakhstan. This settlement is known far beyond the state. First of all, it is known as a mining capital. And the sights of Karaganda, though they can not boast of architectural centuries-old objects, attract attention with their floridity and some special charm. Among them there are both monuments to outstanding personalities and natural treasures.

Karaganda is a modern metropolis, where restaurants, shopping and entertainment centers, scientific institutions and many other institutions operate. The settlement itself can be considered an attraction, as it is the only satellite city in the country with around two dozen towns and villages around.

Monument to the famous phrase

It is best to start studying the sights of Karaganda from the most popular monument in the country. This object distinguishes the city among all other settlements of Kazakhstan. One popular phrase made the name of the metropolis known to every person. It sounds like this: "Where, where? In Karaganda!". And it was this word combination that was built in the city of a monument.

All those who were not lazy, pronounced this phrase and did not even think about the fact that once tourists will visit the sights of Karaganda, and most of all they will be attracted to the monument that reflects the essence of this statement. In 1999, the idea to build a sculpture dawned Bari Alibasov, a showman from Russia. He told about this in one of the TV programs. The idea aroused admiration among all, but it was possible to realize it only after many years: it was necessary to choose the best place, to collect money for the construction.

The monument was opened in late May 2011. It was installed on the territory of the restaurant "Medved". The future symbol of the city was designed by Vikenty Komkov and Murat Mansurov. Architects did all the sculpting and editing work for free.

One of the few architectural objects

Very few sights of Karaganda are valuable architectural objects. But nevertheless there is among them a number of historical exhibits. One of them is the mausoleum of Juchi Khan. It is located 50 kilometers from the village of Zhezkazgan. The mausoleum was built in the distant 13th century. It became a place in which the remains of Juchi Khan, the eldest son of Genghis Khan himself, are kept. The son of a great conqueror died near Mount Ulytau in 1227.

The city of Karaganda, whose sights we are considering, is known in the CIS countries largely thanks to this particular architectural structure. Portal-dome construction is made of burnt bricks. The object itself is covered by a dome. Its outer side, made of two shells, collapsed. It was tiled with a turquoise tint, and the support was a drum, distinguished by a complex 17-faceted form.

The arch of the portal was decorated with the same turquoise tone of tiles. The niche is covered with a semi-dome, where support is made of brick. With the dome inner shell overlapping a square camera, in the depth of which is placed a tombstone.

New object

The city of Karaganda, whose attractions will be interesting to see every inhabitant of our planet, has completely new cultural and religious objects. So, a completely new attraction is the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin Mary of Fatima. This is one of the most magnificent buildings in the metropolis. To build a church the authorities were simply forced, because in the entire Karaganda region there was only one Catholic church, St. Joseph's Cathedral. But all the parishioners could not fit in the temple. In 2012, a new cathedral was consecrated in memory of the victims of political repressions of the village of Dolinka.

Inspiration for this cult building was the Cologne Cathedral. In the cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary Fatimskaya is the largest organ in the Karaganda region.

Museum and Palace of Culture

Attractions of Karaganda (photos with names you can see in the article) - it's also museums. For example, a well-known object is the regional museum of history and local lore in which archaeological exhibits belonging to the Neolithic and Paleolithic ages are kept. Also there are exhibited items dating from the 13th to 15th century BC. To date, the institution has more than 134 thousand units of monuments of spiritual and material culture of Kazakhstan.

The Palace of Culture of miners is another popular object in Karaganda. All the most important events in the city are organized here. The central part of the building is a powerful six-columned portico, which consists of octagonal columns. The building pylons and walls are interconnected by openwork ganch arches. The portico is crowned with six sculptures: a miner, a builder, a shepherd with a lamb, a collective farmer with a sheaf, a warrior and akyn with a domra. And without that the beautiful sight looks even better at night illumination.

Natural treasure

Attractions of Karaganda (a photo with a description is in our review) can not be considered without paying attention to the outstanding natural object. His name is Lake Balkhash. This reservoir is the third largest in size after the Aral and Caspian seas. This is a unique lake. Its eccentricity lies in the fact that it is the only water body on the Earth, divided into two parts. The eastern half is salty. And the western half at this time is fresh. Isthmus Uzyn Aral warns of mixing water.

Everyone can rest here: everyone will find something special for themselves. For adherents of bathing there is transparent warm water, and if you like to lie on the beach, then at your disposal the sandy clean coast.

Other Wealth of the City

Karaganda (attractions, photos are presented above) is replete with other "interests". For example, an environmental museum. It is considered to be the only such kind of object on the territory of the Commonwealth. Having visited this place, tourists will get acquainted with the history of the famous cosmodrome Baikonur.

The Spassky memorial is another attraction that deserves the attention of others. The history of the monument relates to the post-war period. Then prisoners from many European and Asian countries were sent to Kazakhstan. The monument was erected in their honor.
