"Attack of the Titans": reviews of the movie. The first film: "Cruel World"

Actors of the modern film industry - recognized masters and debutants - periodically pamper the viewer with stories-forecasts about the future of mankind. More often they, in the measure of their violent imagination, predict the human civilization all sorts of troubles, catastrophes and horrors. In most cases, such postapocalyptic kinoprognozy look unconvincing, to watch them is not terrible. But the group of creators of the Japanese film "Attack of the Titans", the viewers' reviews will not let you lie, you can frighten the beholder for real.

Shove indescribable

At the very moment when it became known that the Japanese director Shinji Higuti, one of the leading experts in the field of cinema effects in Japan, the co-author of the legendary Evangelion TV series, started work on the full film version of the "Attack", a lot of excitement began around the world. Reviews of the movie "Attack of the Titans. Cruel World "began to be published long before the release of the picture on the screen, since the start of the project. The majority of film critics were perplexed, arguing on the topic, how it would be possible to shove in the planned timekeeping epic narrative with an impressive number of bright characters and significant events. But Higuti and his companions, instead of screening a popular manga, created an author's free cinematography, in which Isayama's work is hardly recognized. Comparing with the literary original the film "Attack of the Titans", the experts' reviews noted some similarities - titans like titans, city as a city, and the central character of Ehren - all the same, but everything else is radically different, and not for the better.

Titanic appetite

"Attack of the Titans. The film was the first »feedback was mixed. It seems that the project is not addressed to fans of the manga, but to the audience that prefers all the exotic. Maybe that's why the creators are not at all worried about being true to the original (some characters are not at all, some are replaced). However, for ignorant, it really does not matter. However, the problem is that in the film "Attack of the Titans" (reviews of film critics confirm this fact), characters and character relationships are spelled out too casually. The uninitiated spectator risks simply not to understand what heroes are in front of him (until they are devoured).

Here is how it was

According to the plot, in a relatively distant future on the planet there is a global catastrophe and the Earth is subjected to treacherous attack of the titans. Strange, asexual beings devour people at every opportunity. Individual people manage to escape by shutting off huge monsters from monsters. A hundred years pass. The new generation, young boys and girls begin to feel that there are no monsters at all. But at the moment, as the protagonist Ehren (Haruma Miura), dares to voice this heretical thought, the Titans begin to attack. The monsters manage to breach the age-old wall and start feeding on the limited territory of the human reserve. With infantile immediacy, these giants devour panic-stricken population. In this monstrous meat grinder, Ehren loses her beloved Mikasa (Kiko Mizuhara), but realizes her destiny and the meaning of life. The hero wants revenge and intends to destroy all cannibals. By enlisting the support of his old friend Armin (Kanata Hongo), he enlists in a detachment of suicide bombers in order to eradicate a break in the wall and arrange the deserved Holocaust for the monsters that have fallen asleep. So briefly it is possible to characterize the narrative narrative of the picture "Attack of the Titans". Reviews of the film and the structure of the narrative mark annoying gaffes.

The long-awaited alternative

The fact that the first part turned out to be a sloppy movie, with special effects of the 90s and a dotted script, does not completely cancel the surprise, even the amazement that it causes. The viewer had a long-awaited and desired alternative to the boring Hollywood mainstream, even if barbarous, artisanal, but terribly real and alive in the modern film industry of excesses. Here is the main value of the work of Shinji Higuchi under the title "Attack of the Titans: Cruel World". Reviews as one mark and the fact that the film strikes its semantic codes and references.

The second film

Of course, analyzing mystic fantasy from the point of view of rationalism is extremely stupid. After the release of the first part of the project "Attack of the Titans" (which can not be called praiseful), Shinji Higuti is shooting the second episode. Now Ehren (Haruma Miura) is turning into a titan, and the security service hastens to declare him an accomplice of the enemy and a traitor. A young man is sentenced to death. But during the adjuration of the verdict, unknown from where appears the giant cannibal with more meaningful eyes and kidnaps the main character. Moreover, the General of the Security Council and his group, during a clash, are stoned. And now only Eren's friends-friends can save the city.

The attempt to justify

While watching the picture, it seems that the authors, after the failure of the first episode "Attack of the Titans" (the reviews on the film are mostly written in a negative light) are hurrying to justify themselves. If the first picture presented to the spectator of the characters, outlining their world and problems, then the second was to become an epic battle culmination. It was not there. "End of the World" contains much more talk: about the history of the origin of monsters, the meaning of life, the perspective of the future, etc., and they look completely ridiculous. So the second part at first confuses with nightmarish dialogues, and after and at all disappoints the climactic fights. In fairness, it's worth noting that the battles do not look completely helpless and unimpressive, but the viewer had the right to expect something stunning. In the rest the second episode is the same as the first one. Characters of the cinema are unlike their prototypes from the comics, the plot intrigue is primitive, and sometimes absurd, not too spectacular special effects. But thrash movie fans will definitely like it.
