Mercedes W213 - the most interesting about the long-awaited novelty of 2016

Mercedes W213 is the fifth generation of E-class executive cars produced by the famous Stuttgart brand. It is what replaced the W212. Presented generation in 2016, January 11, in Detroit. And sales plan to start in the summer. In general, everything is still ahead. In the meantime, it's worth telling about the most interesting features of this model.

Briefly about the car

Mercedes W213 should become the most advanced in terms of technology "Mercedes". The novelty is assembled on the modular MRA platform, and it is also used by the latest cars of the S and S classes (which also gained their popularity.) The novelty became larger in size, compared with its predecessors, but the weight, however, became smaller. All thanks to the use in the production of the body of special materials - aluminum and high-strength steel.

The model range has found many updates. The most significant is the appearance of new, in-line 6-cylinder engines. Plus, there were new diesel engines, code name - OM654. But 4-cylinder gasoline units from the W212 have survived.

Design, as always, at the highest level - something new reminds a new "C" -class. The length of the model will be almost five meters. The wheelbase is almost three meters. The height was slightly reduced - by 6 mm, as well as by the width - by 2 mm. Thanks to such changes the body began to look very dynamically and effectively.

What to expect?

Mercedes W213 in the most expensive modifications will please its potential owners with a digital instrument panel, which the developers decided to combine with the multimedia display. It strikes a diagonal - it is as much as 12.3 inches. In the basic version, everything looks a little different. The diagonal of screens is only 8.4 inches. But this in principle is enough. Instruments in the basic models are analog. The equipment is very diverse - wireless charging for the phone, a variety of security systems, cruise control as well as other necessities and delights that used to please the Mercedes.

By the time the sales start, a number of power units will be only two names. It will be a gasoline engine for 184 horsepower (for the E200) and a diesel engine for 195 hp. (At Е 220 D). Each of these engines operates under a nine-band "machine". The E200 is capable of reaching 100 km / h in 7.7 seconds, and the diesel version is faster in 7.3 seconds.

Other features

Mercedes W213 will be offered first in the sedan. Then the universal with a trunk, the volume of which was 695 liters, will also be on sale. A year later, it is planned to start selling coupe versions. And at the end of 2017, Mercedes hopes to start releasing cabriolets.

Many people have a standard question: "And what about the cost?". How much will you give for such an attractive Mercedes W213? The price of the car will be rather big, but not too extreme. The base model E200 will cost about 45 305 euros. Diesel modifications will cost more - the price for Е 220 is 47,125 euros, and for Е 320 - 55,605 €.

Serial equipment will be able to please potential buyers with Active Brake Assist and PRE-SAFE systems, as well as THERMATIC climate control, which works in automatic mode. Another machine will be equipped with a DYNAMIC SELECT switch (five transmission modes) and an infotainment system "Audio 20". Seats in the car are electrically adjustable.

Exterior and interior

Mercedes-Benz W213 features an impressive front optics with LEDs and tail lights "Star Dust." The design was very elegant and smooth - much more elegant, unlike the predecessor of the W212. Very interesting looks the lower part of the bumper of the car - its specialist developers decided to equip the diffuser, covered with chrome. It also integrated two exhaust pipes.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz W213 is made in the best traditions of the Stuttgart company. Everything is exquisite, beautiful, elegant - in German strictly and with the highest taste. Especially pleasing is the offer of developers to equip the model 23 (!) With powerful speakers with 3D sound - naturally, for an additional fee. In the steering wheel there are touchpads - they respond instantly, and with them you can control the infotainment system of the model.

By the way, the seats are equipped with lateral support and 14 tons of massage pneumatic elements. There is even heating up the armrests (available as an option).

About technical features

Suspension Mercedes-Benz E-class W213 is offered in three versions (comfortable, more rigid and sporty). In top modifications, adaptive, pneumatic is proposed.

And what about the engines? As already mentioned, initially the models will be offered only with two motors. But then 150 and 258-strong units will appear. The first - for 4, and the second - for 6 cylinders. These are diesel options. Still expected to release models with gasoline, 330 and 240 "horses." But in addition to them in the lineup there should be a hybrid modification with a 4-cylinder motor and an electric motor, which in tandem will develop 286 hp.

In general, the novelty turned out to be more than powerful and effective. It has a lot of features - starting with autonomous driving and ending with collision avoidance systems. But you can learn more about everything in detail only after full-fledged test drives, and for now it remains only to expect the start of sales.
