Prehistory

Lovers of astronomy created the first Novosibirsk Observatory in pre-revolutionary times on the basis of a real school. However, over the long years of their non-professional activities, the issue of creating a "window into the universe" was ripe for a particularly acute. For this reason, in 2006, at the astronomical forum, it was decided to build a large urban planetarium. This issue was almost immediately put to the discussion. And in the shortest possible time determined the place for the construction of a scientific and educational institution. Planetarium (Novosibirsk) decided to erect on the Key-Kamyshin Upland, on the southern side of this site.

Project development

The definition of the construction plan, as well as the development of the scheme of this building, was assigned to the architect I.V. Popovsky. By the way, for his project he was subsequently awarded the "Golden Capital" prize. Initially, it was planned to carry out all the work in two stages. The first implied the construction of the astrophysical center itself, the Foucault tower and the creation of a park zone. The second point was the erection of a scientific and technical museum for children. For this building was allocated a special place in the adjacent territory. Planetarium (Novosibirsk) created in the form of a two-story structure. On the lower tier all the ancillary rooms, office rooms and technical rooms were placed. In addition, there is a studio for shooting films. The upper floor area is the heart of the planetarium. They built a starry hall, which crowned a 16-meter dome. Also erected two towers for the study of celestial objects. And for the convenience of visitors, a cafe-dining room, a large hall and study rooms were planned.

The implementation of the second part of the project was only possible in 2009. Then the construction of a children's and youthful planetarium was included in the plan for the preparation and holding of the celebration of the space flight of Gagarin. To this end, it was allocated about 340 million rubles from the federal, municipal and regional budgets. As a result, at the end of 2012, a modern building equipped with modern technology was erected. An astrophysical center of this type is rightfully considered to be one of the largest in the Asian part of our country.

In recent years, fundamental changes have taken place in this area. So, 2008 was marked by the opening of a planetarium in Nizhny Novgorod. And 2011 presented this building to the city of Yaroslavl. In addition, all the construction work of the Moscow "window to the universe" was completed. Tomsk and Novokuznetsk centers were completely updated in technical terms. But it is worth noting that the vast majority of planetariums are outdated, not only morally, but also physically.

Official opening

Planetarium (Novosibirsk) was solemnly delivered on the day of Russian science in 2012. Residents and visitors of the city could get acquainted with the starry hall, which can simultaneously accommodate over 100 people. There was also the opportunity to also admire the huge dome located in this room. For information, in order to achieve a better image projection, the arch was built at a certain slope. The room of the observatory was equipped with the most modern technology, mainly the company "Barco". Planetarium (Novosibirsk) offers visitors to get acquainted with an interesting film "Dark Matter". By the way, it lasts only 17 minutes.
