Every good housewife wants her kitchen to always be in order and clean. Sometimes it is not easy to maintain the proper environment. The most difficult thing in the kitchen is to maintain the purity of household appliances directly used for cooking. How to clean the oven at home - this article will tell.

Cleaning the oven - hard, but necessary

When it comes to cleaning in the kitchen, the most unpleasant duty for the housewife is, perhaps, cleaning the oven. First, washing the oven is at least inconvenient, which is explained by its design features: it is deep and is located most often low, and its surface is embossed. Secondly, the very nature of the pollution inside household appliances is such that it is not possible to clean them easily. Burnt fat, often chronic, is usually hardest to remove. In addition, if you do not remove it after each cooking, it begins to burn out and smoke. Sooner or later it is necessary to undertake such a difficult business as cleaning the oven. First of all, the owner is faced with the question of how to clean the oven at home and how to use it for the best result. Are all the "miraculous" tools that producers so praise are effective?

How do I clean the oven?

It is clear that it is always possible to use chemical agents in order to wash off any surfaces in the kitchen. You can use them even for ovens. But if you look at the composition of these products, especially those that are designed to dissolve fat and carbon deposits, it becomes a little uncomfortable. These substances are simply toxic. Of course, you can use them only in rubber gloves, but this is not the main thing. Where is the guarantee that the chemicals will be completely washed away after cleaning? And how dangerous are their pairs?

These questions make the housewives look for other ways to clean the oven at home.

Comparison of gas and electric ovens

Kitchen stoves are of the same type (hob and oven work from one type of fuel) and combined. I would like to find out right away whether a gas or electric oven is better to be cleaned? After all, today in the market of household appliances such a large selection of different models. Obviously, since gas fires use open fire for cooking, and the feed gas clearly contains various admixtures and additives, the combustion of which forms a deposit, it will be contaminated much faster and it will be more difficult to clean it accordingly. In electrical appliances, the degree of contamination will depend, rather, on the method of cooking, that is, whether various hoses, foil or paper are used for baking. If used, the food particles will not fall on its surface and will not burn, and the question of how to clean the oven in an electric stove will rarely arise. And this is a plus.

As for other performance characteristics, choosing which oven, gas or electric is better, it is worth considering that the first option is definitely more economical: gas costs less than electricity, and the appliances themselves tend to have a more democratic price. But the electric appliance has much more functionality, and the assortment variety in this case is an order of magnitude higher. And such a criterion as the safety of electrical appliances in comparison with gas equipment makes consumers often choose this option.

Since it is the gas ovens that are characterized by a high degree of contamination, the most common problem is how to clean the oven of the gas stove.

Methods for cleaning ovens at home

So, if we consider only harmless ways of how to clean the oven at home, excluding the use of hazardous chemicals, then we can distinguish the following options:

1. Use a solution of citric or acetic acid. The solution is applied to the entire surface of the oven with a sponge, after 2-3 hours thoroughly rinsed with water. This method will perfectly remove not only traces of fat, but also the smell.

2. Cleaning the oven with soda with lemon or acetic acid. Ingredients are best not to mix, and treat the surface first with vinegar, and then pour the soda on a particularly dirty place. As a result, the chemical reaction, which is absolutely harmless to others, but fatal to fat, begins with the release of hydrogen. After an hour, you will simply have to treat the surface first with a mild detergent and then with clean water. Alternatively, as a cleaner, you can use a baker's baking powder for the dough - it just has soda and citric acid.

3. The use of ammonia can also often be found among the councils of landladies about how to clean the oven from the deposit. This method is quite effective, but not entirely comfortable, since the ammonia solution has a pungent odor. It will take not only gloves, but also a respirator. After half an hour of exposure to liquid ammonia on the surface, the solution should be washed with special care, and the oven ventilated.

4. Steaming. It is very convenient for this purpose to use a steam generator. But for its lack of a container with water and added to it detergent simply put in the oven, included in the mode of 100-150 degrees. After 30-40 minutes, the gas is turned off, the surface is slightly cooled and is easily washed, since under the influence of hot vapors of the detergent all the fat and all dirt lag behind the walls of the oven.

5. Salt or a mixture of salt and soda. Salt is covered in the oven, heated, after which it absorbs all the fat and dirt and turns brown. After removing the waste salt, the surface is washed. You can still cook pasta from soda, salt and water and rub it with an oven. This mixture is best left to act longer, for example overnight.

6. A mixture of household soap, table vinegar and baking soda will help to answer the question of how to clean the oven in an electric stove and remove the most stale spots of dirt and grease not only from the surface of the appliance, but also from baking sheets and grills. It is enough to rub them thoroughly with this mixture and leave for a couple of hours.

All of the above methods can be applied in a complex manner. For example, first treat the surface with vinegar, and then soda or salt. To clean the oven glass with success, you can apply the same drinking soda, by applying it with a damp sponge to the glass. After half an hour, the glass is washed.

Before applying this or that method of cleaning, you should remove the grates and baking sheets, and also clean the oven of dry debris.

When the oven is cleaned itself

Leading manufacturers of household appliances are improving the produced devices continuously. So there was a useful feature that allows you to reduce the effort to manually clean such appliances, and even completely abandon it - the self-cleaning function of the oven.

Pyrolytic method

So, the first option of automatic cleaning from grease and any contamination has a very big impact on the cost of household appliances in the direction of appreciation. It consists in the fact that the oven warms up to a temperature of about 500 degrees. At the same time, all contaminants are burned and turned into ashes, which after self-cleaning is easily removed. It is clear that this function significantly complicates the design, because fireproof materials, additional insulation for the external surface of the device, as well as the possibility of special removal and filtration of smoke, which is formed as a result of combustion, will be needed.

The catalytic method

Its essence lies in the fact that the walls of the oven are covered with special enamel, which keeps fats and splits them into water and carbon. The process occurs automatically during cooking. Manual cleaning in this case is still needed, since the bottom of the oven with catalytic enamel is not covered. Another drawback of this method of self-cleaning is that this clever enamel will be destroyed within 4-5 years, and then the catalysis function will cease to function.

Conclusion

If there is no possibility to buy a household appliance with the function of self-cleaning, it is desirable to regularly clean the oven both electric and gas using the above methods or modern means of household chemicals. Thus, it will be possible to avoid hard-to-remove stains of burnt fat and carbon deposits.
