Apple tree: scab and her treatment

Parsha is a very common disease of apple trees. Causes its special kind of fungus. When infected on leaves, cuttings, branches and fruits, spots of dark olive color appear . In wet years, this disease manifests itself in the spring, during flowering. With a strong infection, you can lose the entire crop, because buds and buds that are infected with the fungus can fall off. When a scab on the fruit appears on their peel, a dense cork layer forms, preventing penetration of the fungus into the flesh. The most common infection is the untreated apple tree. The scab strikes strongly thickened trees, very high, and also irrigated from above.

This disease is very dangerous in the first stage of fruiting. With a strong defeat, fruits, as well as flowers, can fall. Sometimes trees become infected in the second half of the summer. In this case, the stains on the fruits can manifest themselves after harvesting. In this case, the scab on the apple tree, the photo of which you can see below, significantly reduces the keeping quality of fruits and the content of vitamin C. In addition, apples completely lose their marketable appearance. The scab in this case can also cause considerable damage.

Prevention is the best measure to combat this disease. At the same time, no apple tree should remain without attention. The scab does not damage the trees if the owner of the garden takes appropriate measures. First, you need to periodically trim at the right time, in any case not allowing thickening of the crown. Secondly, it is necessary to immediately get rid of any potential source of infection - rake the fallen leaves and branches.

In addition, you need to periodically spray trees with suitable chemical preparations. The first treatment is done in the spring. Spray a 10% solution of ammonium nitrate with the stock circle. Processing of apples from scab is also performed during bud budding. This time, the tree itself is sprayed with a 1-3% solution of the Bordeaux liquid. For apple trees growing in a humid climate, use a stronger composition, for those that are planted in arid regions - weaker.

Thus, every apple should be treated. The scab, like any other fungal disease, can very quickly be transferred from one tree to another. The second treatment should be done after flowering with a solution of the same composition. For the third time, the trees are sprayed after three weeks.

Yet not every apple tree gets infected with this infection. Parsha practically does not touch such varieties as Antonovka, Renet Champagne, Teremok, Pepin saffron and others. In those gardens, where this disease manifests itself constantly and has a pronounced character, it is worthwhile to carry out more serious treatment of trees. The so-called "blue spraying" is used. For 300 grams of copper sulfate, 400 grams are taken off immediately before mixing the lime. The resulting mixture is diluted in ten liters of water.

Spraying can also be carried out with carbonate, copper-bearing and other special fungicides. Particular attention to the apple trees in this plan should be given in the first half of the summer, during the flowering period. Applying all the above measures, you can greatly reduce crop losses caused by such a common infection of apple trees, like scab.
