Tarkovsky: the early years

Tarkovsky was born in early April 1932. His father was a famous poet, it's Arseny Tarkovsky. Unfortunately, he left the family when the boy was only three years old. On the hands of Maria Ivanovna, there are two children left: Andryusha and his younger sister Marina. Later, not one film by Andrei Tarkovsky will be devoted to these difficult times (pre-war and military). The director's mother will express her special gratitude for her stamina, having removed one of her best paintings in her honor.

Maria Ivanovna really had an enviable devotion to her family: despite her attractiveness, she did not remarry and devoted her life to children. Tarkovsky repeatedly said that if he took place in the profession, it was only thanks to his mother.

After school, Andrei Arsenievich chose a rather exotic profession to study: he became a student of the Faculty of Oriental Studies. Before getting into the cinema, Tarkovsky tried himself as a geologist and collector (an employee of the institute).

The first short film directed by the director was called "Murderers". The script for the mini-film was written based on the work of Ernest Hemingway. This work was highly appreciated by the artistic director of Tarkovsky - Romm.

The next screening was a short film "Today will not be dismissed," based on real events that took place in Kursk during the war.

The final final work is the short film "The Skating rink and the violin", the script for which was written in collaboration with Andrei Konchalovsky. This film served as the beginning of a long friendship of two future famous filmmakers.

Andrei Tarkovsky, whose films are quite original and more like art in the spirit of art house, received a lot of film awards and prizes. The very first full-length film entitled "Ivan's Childhood" immediately became the winner of the Venice Film Festival.

The second full-length tape, Andrei Rublev, received recognition from the audience, but was included in the list of so-called semi-forbidden films: that is, they were not officially banned from censorship, but they were not shown on central television either. But the picture was included in the top ten films of the world according to the English magazine Sight & Sound.

It so happened that every work of Tarkovsky caused a stir in the society: Solaris, Mirror, Stalker, etc. The director himself explained his success by shooting a "deeply personal" movie, which, naturally, was a response In the hearts of the audience.

The most precious person in the life of Andrei Arsenyevich was always his mother. He felt this especially sharply after her death in the late 70's. After somehow surviving his loss, the director started creating a new script, codenamed "Nostalgia". So there was a film by Andrei Tarkovsky dedicated to his mother.

The plot of "Nostalgia" develops in the decorations of Italy. The main character (Oleg Yankovsky) is a Russian writer who came to Italy for work. In this beautiful country, nothing pleases him. He misses Russia and wants to return home, but some circumstances prevent him from doing so. The film is more like an emotional sketch, because its plot is not full of events.
