Analysis of the work "Poor Lisa." The peak of sentimentalism in the history of Russian literature

While analyzing the work "Poor Lisa", it should be noted that Karamzin was the first writer who refused traditional glorification of certain images, specific heroes (as is usually the case in classical literature) and set out to simply express the feelings and emotions of people. This story is also remarkable because its main character is not a noblewoman, not a noble lady, but an ordinary peasant girl, because "peasants love to know how".

The manner of narration

The narrative in itself leaves the impression of some unrealisticness. When analyzing the work "Poor Liza", it is important to note that the dialogues of the actors are too pompous and artificial, they contain an excessive amount of epithets, akhs and sighs, exclamations. Nevertheless, it is this move that allows us to penetrate more deeply the sentimentalism of the narrative, to experience the emotions experienced by Lisa and Erast. The author does not strive to make the picture realistic - it is much more important for him that the reader can penetrate, fully feel his involvement in the events taking place in the work. The writer wants to awaken in him sincere emotions in relation to the heroes, and especially to Liza herself.

Meeting Erast and Lisa

Analysis of the work "Poor Lisa" is based on the image of the main character. It is a kind, pure soul, a loving and sympathetic girl. Beautiful Erast, a nobleman by birth, first meets her in the city, where the heroine sells lilies of the valley. They fall in love with each other, as they say, at first sight. Both of them are engulfed in a whirlpool of passion, and Lisa gives herself, without a trace, to her lover. It would seem that Erast also loved her with all his heart, but this is an illusion.

Descriptions of nature - an important part of the product of sentimentalism

What else is remarkable about "Poor Lisa"? Analysis of the work must necessarily include a reference to the fact that N. Karamzin at work paid much attention to descriptions of nature. The living world becomes, as it were, yet another independent hero of the narrative. She looks at everything that happens and becomes a reflection of the emotional state of the heroine. However, even nature was powerless to help the girl at a crucial hour. "The darkness of the evening nurtures desires," and not a single asterisk appears in the sky to "dispel the darkness of delusion." Lisa is immersed in love completely, and only after that a terrible storm broke out, as if "all nature complained about Lizina's loss of innocence."

All the feelings in the girl are heated to an extreme degree. In addition, she senses nature very sensitively and immediately perceives a thunderstorm as a sign that a punishment for the committed sin will soon follow, she feels herself a criminal.

Tragedy of the history of love

Analysis of the work "Poor Lisa" is an analysis of a truly tragic love story. Under the pressure of various tests, the feelings of the characters are not maintained, and a crack appears in them, which inexorably increases in size, and then leads to collapse. Lisa remains true to her chosen one, however, in the heart of Erast, that first trembling tenderness, ecstasy has already faded. As a result, the young man renounces his love for Lisa and becomes engaged to a rich woman "at an age." For Liza, the love for Erast has already become a meaning of life, she sees nothing but her. And the only way to get rid of the suffering, to which her youth's indifference is doomed, is Liza's death. As a result, the girl rushes into the pond in the same place where they once loved Erast and they loved each other.

Actual and to this day is the topic opened by N. Karamzin. "Poor Lisa" is a work that makes us once again be convinced that the main feeling in a person's life is love, without which he can not be himself.
