Alexander Losev: the voice hiding behind "Flowers"

Songs of the group "Flowers" still have many pleasant memories of the young years, real friendship and first love. But very few people know that it was Alexander Losev (photo below) is the voice of the group, and only thanks to his talent this music gained wide popularity and recognition in the 70-80s.

The young years of Alexander Losev

Sasha was born in 1949. His father was the secretary of the Moscow City Party Committee. Even at school age, the boy fell in love with music and learned to play the guitar well. At school, he constantly took part in amateur performances, and in the student years he was a soloist in local ensembles. Alexander Losev had a good ear and a unique voice, so in his repertoire there were songs of various genres.

Student's time

After graduating from school, Sasha entered the Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering. At this time he met with Stas Namin, who studied at the Institute of Foreign Languages. His new friend was ambitious, determined and full of creative ideas by a young man. So they started their creative work together. It can be noted that it was Namin who formed the "Flowers", which glorified these talented children. In their student years, they were carried away by a new hippy movement, which to some extent reflected their creativity.

Musicians and novice groups throughout Moscow liked to gather in the basement of the recreation center "Energetik", and Alexander Losev and his friend became regular participants there. Like most other young bands, the future "Flowers" performed already famous compositions. They played "Beatles", "Rolling", and they were invited by little-known clubs of the city to fill musical minutes for 10 rubles.

Alexander Losev: the biography of success

An important step in Losev's work was his participation in the ensemble of A. Kozlov. It was also an interesting stage in his life, as they performed jazz with elements of rock. Soloist was Alexander, and in their repertoire there were compositions of foreign bands, such as "Chicago". At the same time, his friend Stas dreamed that they would record a record together with several songs, which the guys perform in the ensemble.

But new acquaintances abruptly changed the life of a talented performer. Sasha and Stas began to communicate with musicians Sergei Dyachkov and Vladimir Semenov, who offered them to make their own album. It included "Asterisk", "Do not" and "There are eyes in the flowers." These three compositions were combined in a plate "sorokapyatke", which sold in circulation of seven million. Further in 1972-73 years. They recorded a record company "Melody". Since then, the group of Alexander Losev has become popular and has gained many admirers.

In 1974, "Flowers" delighted listeners with the next record, on which there were such hits as "Lullaby", "You and I", "Honestly", "More Life". At this time, the young group took a step in the professional activities in the Moscow Philharmonic.

Further activities of Losev

VIA "Flowers" finished their "flower" activities in 1978, and the band played under the direction of Stas Namin. But the soloist Alexander is getting ready to sing in the VIA "Red Poppies". There he performs "Mirror", "Insomnia", "Everything that happened", "Kiss for the beloved", "How can I stop loving you".

Namin and Losev met again in 1980 on tour. Stas persuaded a friend to become a soloist of his band.

It is interesting that the famous song "We wish you happiness", recorded for the youth festival, is associated with many people precisely with Alexander Losev, because he performed the main part in this composition.

In the late eighties the group disintegrated, and Losev recruited his staff with young talents.

The last performances of Alexander Losev took place in Haifa and Tel Aviv in 2004 from 23 to 25 January. There he performed his most famous hits of the past.

Personal life

1974 was a success for Alexander and for another reason. This year he married. Three years later his life marked another joyful and long-awaited event: Losev's heir Nikolai appeared. But, like many other talented musicians, Alexander Losev did not know how to combine creativity, business and family responsibilities, which is why his family did not go smoothly.

Unfortunately, his beloved son died at the age of eighteen. This tragedy led to the severance of marriage ties with his wife, who soon remarried. After the death of the heir, the singer changed, he began to smoke a lot, lost weight, and the performance of the songs became more penetrating.

In his last interview, Alexander Losev admitted that he feels lonely, despite the fact that in his life there are many good acquaintances. And this is not surprising, because he was haunted by misfortunes, especially in his personal life. Shortly before his death, Alexander was diagnosed with lung cancer (grade III). After the operation he underwent intensive chemotherapy. A few weeks later, he already went on his last tour to Israel, because the treatment was considered successful.

After the speech, on February 1, 2004, Losev was at his girlfriend's birthday party, where he drank a little alcohol, which provoked an instant death. He was 54 years old.
