Air congestion in the house heating system: how to get rid?

For what reason is an airlock formed in the heating system and how can I get rid of it? This is one of the most popular issues that are of interest at the time of the heat launch.

What is an airlock?

In summer, the heating system is at rest, and the last floors are practically not filled with a coolant, that is, there is air in pipelines and radiators. The procedure for starting heat is very important, and if it is not done correctly, then excessive accumulation of air and there is an airlock in the heating system.

How does education work?

The correct start of the heating system is one in which it is filled through the return line by means of a make-up pump. When filling the system through the return line, the filling process is carried out from the bottom upwards, the heat carrier gradually begins to fill all pipelines and heating devices, excess air rises. As a result, it is very easy to lower it from the system with the help of air collectors located in the upper points.

However, the process, sequence and incorrect start-up is far from the only reason that an air-cork is formed in the heating system. During operation of the heating system, air is sucked through the flange, threaded connections, as well as other available leaks, which leads to the formation of a plug.

Effects

What can happen if the heating system starts to fill through the supply line, through which the coolant moves under normal conditions while the system is running?

Climbing up the main riser, the coolant begins to propagate along the supplying upper pipeline, and then descends to the lower points. However, on the way to the upper parts of the heating system, it gradually moves to the accumulated air, and under the influence of gravity all the air is directed downward. As a result, a dense air cork is formed in the heating system.

Under the influence of the coolant and gravity, the air is directed downwards, thus the space of the risers and radiators is completely filled, which can completely deprive some heaters and risers from circulation. In other words, the coolant will circulate in the system bypassing some heating devices.

It turns out that the individual elements will remain completely cold due to the fact that an air cork has formed in the heating system. How to get rid of it in this case? With this filling of the system, it is rather problematic to lower the air. Therefore, if an incorrect start was made, the only way to get rid of air is to drain the coolant into the sewer system and restart through the return line.

Descent of air in radiators

So, first of all you should stop at the descent of air from radiators - radiators. In this case, you should use the already proven option: to drain air through the Maevsky crane. This crane, as a rule, is installed instead of blind plugs on the radiator, at the highest point. This arrangement implies the accumulation of excess air directly under the valve. In other words, when it is opened, air will be the first thing to go out, and then water will go, which will indicate that the cork in the heating system has been completely eliminated.

To do this, only need to substitute a container, which will merge a small amount of fluid that comes with the air. Open the tap and wait for the moment when the water will go exclusively, without the characteristic sounds with air bubbles.

Manual air release at the top of the system

As in the first case, specialized units that have been pre-installed in the heating system will be required to lower the excess air. So, in the highest points of the system, in most cases, conventional valves are installed, through which air is released, like the Mayevsky cranes. This option can be described as manual descent.

Automatic air release

Also, the descent can be automatic, as air will accumulate at the top of the system. In this case, an automatic air vent is installed.

The principle of work is the following. When air starts to accumulate under the shut-off valve , the float that closes the valve gradually submerges into a liquid, the level of which, with the appearance of the air plug, accordingly begins to decrease. As a result, the valve opens, and the airlock in the private house heating system disappears. The level of the heat carrier rises, the float floats off, and the valve closes again the leakage of water into the external environment.

Air bleeding through the plug

In the event that there are no cranes on the heaters, a problem such as an airlock in a home heating system is complicated many times. It will be necessary to unscrew one of the stubs.

  1. For this purpose, a large adjustable wrench must be prepared . Place a container under the plug.
  2. Then the key is taken by the cap and turns very gently.
  3. It is inadmissible to completely unscrew the plug, as there can be a high pressure in the heating system, the coolant will go straight to the room with a large head, and it will be problematic to cope with the current situation. That's why the plug should be cranked with extreme care.
  4. It is advisable to switch off all available equipment in the room, close the window and door openings tightly . While turning the plug, you must listen. When there is a slight hiss, do not turn the plug on again.
  5. At this point, you need to stop and put aside the key. Now you should wait for excess air from the heater to gradually, but completely leave the system. Determine that the cork in the heating system has come out, very simply - from under the plug will leak the liquid.
  6. Then use a large adjustable wrench to smoothly and accurately return the plug to its original position.

Descent of air from the heating system of the apartment

Speaking about the peculiarities of the descent of air, it is necessary to dwell on the sequence of the algorithm of actions. So, the airlock in the heating system of the apartment building is eliminated in the following sequence:

  • First, the air from the most close to the boiler and the lower elements of the heating system descends.
  • Lastly, the air is descended from the highest with respect to the ground level and remote from the boiler devices.

Conclusion

After the above manipulations, the circulation of hot water in the heating system must be fully restored, and the radiators - again become hot. If some of the risers or radiators are still cold, it is most likely due to poor circulation, incorrect start-up of the system or incorrect connection of the radiators.
