A small homeland is an important image for the formation of patriotism

Nowadays, people are increasingly becoming supporters of cosmopolitan views, which were previously condemned. Nevertheless, now we can also see a fairly clear division in the sphere of the world view, which concerns the origins.

Different opinions

For some, it is of great importance not only a large but also a small homeland. This is a patriotic attitude to the land, to your country, to the city and the area in which a person was born.
Others do not have such affection and consider their home the whole world or the place where they happened to live by the will of fate. Our task is not to determine which views are better. That which is based on feelings, on perception and by and large depends on the surrounding people, on education, weakly lends itself to rational comprehension. But just a small homeland is a native city, a district, a courtyard, that is, places with which we are emotionally connected. This is the school and neighbors, these are the favorite corners - parks, alleys, groves where the person felt comfortable, where he dreamed about the future, where he formed as a person.

What is a small homeland?

One can argue for a long time about the extent to which nature and environment affect the nature and views. For most of us, a small homeland is a place that evokes nostalgic memories, which is always associated with the home, with the family. With what is perceived positively, with a touch of sadness. A small homeland is both an object of care, and an object of human attachment. While doing the cleaning of the yard or questions of the development of the native city, we show love for this place. And this is much more effective (also in terms of upbringing) than abstract arguments about patriotism and why a large and small homeland should always evoke love and worship. Should not. And even more so it can not become a political bargaining chip. But, as the poet said, "love of fatherly graves" always answers in a person. Patriotism is the feeling that is formed in childhood and which later becomes part of the worldview.
The notion of "small homeland", although firmly associated with a particular territory, with a certain corner of the globe, is much more determined by surrounding people. Whether a person's sense of home, attachment to him, will depend on the family and parents. In addition, personal responsibility for the world around us is also formed in childhood. If a person is good, comfortable, if he is accustomed by adults to the fact that too much depends on his activities, he will take care to preserve and equip this small corner of the earth. For him, a small homeland is not just the place where he was born and grew up. It causes nostalgic memories, an aching feeling of sadness, a desire to care and improve. For him, the proverb "Where I was born, is there and is suitable" is relevant.

But the formation of an emotional relationship to a small homeland in each of us passes in its own way. Some do not imagine life away from home, from relatives. Others, on the contrary, are trying to escape from the environment where they grew up, leave and settle in a new place. For them, the house is where people close to them in spirit are, and not where they were born. However, we can safely say that in patriotic feelings, a small homeland is the most significant image. Unlike the abstract concept of the fatherland in general, which can be formed with the help of literary works, films, folk culture, it for each of us is associated with the family, childhood friends, favorite corners.
