Wireless Temperature Sensor - use and economy

Maintaining an optimal indoor climate in the heating season is important not only in terms of the health and comfort of people living in it, but also to save the budget. Monitoring the temperature to optimize the work of the heater provides a temperature sensor, or, as it is also called, a thermostat.

What is a temperature sensor, and what is needed?

The temperature sensor is a very useful invention of civilization, as it not only makes our life more comfortable, but also helps increase the productivity and lifetime of the heater. Particularly convenient in this respect is the wireless temperature sensor, since it is connected to the boiler without the use of electric wires. It is he who is most often purchased to monitor the operation of the heating system.

The thermostat is an electronic device designed to regulate the operation of the boiler depending on the programmed temperature regime. If the temperature sensors for boilers are not installed, the heating system is controlled manually by the user. The problem is that only the temperature of the coolant, rather than the air in the room, is regulated independently, as a result of which temperature jumps and overly intensive operation of the unit can occur. This, in turn, will lead to premature deterioration of the boiler and over-consumption of fuel.

Advantages of a room thermostat

The wireless temperature sensor has a number of undeniable advantages:

  • Increasing the operating life of the heating boiler. Of course, most models have a built-in thermostat. However, such a device disconnects / switches on the boiler as the heat exchanger temperature reaches the desired level, while the temperature in the room and remote locations of the heating system may differ. Moreover, if we take into account extraneous factors that affect the microclimate in the room: heating by sunlight during the day, changing weather conditions, a large number of people in the room, etc. Thus, without an additional temperature sensor, the boiler will turn on and off an unnecessary number of times , Resulting in deterioration of the parts of the unit.
  • Saving. If we consider the option, when there are external factors that increase the level of air heating in the room, the boiler will work less, which means less fuel and energy. It is established that a wireless temperature and humidity sensor can save up to 30% of consumed resources.
  • Comfort. Maintaining the desired temperature mode is the task of an additional thermostat, yours is to indicate the desired temperature in the programmer. Installing a temperature sensor eliminates the need to reconfigure the gas burner every time the weather and other conditions affecting the indoor climate change.

How does the wireless temperature sensor work?

The principle of operation is very simple: the user in the programmer's menu sets the desired temperature. As soon as the air temperature in the room reaches the set value, the data enters the control unit and the boiler turns off. And as soon as the drop is recorded to a degree below the set value, the sensor transmits an electronic signal to the heating unit, and the burner lights up. In some modern models, the sensor is able to respond to fluctuations in temperature even by 0.25 degrees.

Connection Features

By the method of connection, temperature sensors for boilers can be of two types: wired and wireless. The first are connected to the heating device by means of wires, which, in fact, the signal is transmitted to resume or stop the operation of the gas burner. A wireless temperature sensor does not imply the use of wires, which means it can be installed in another room. The signal in this case will be transmitted remotely by radio.

Types of room thermostats by degree of automation

According to the set of functions and method of controlling the temperature sensor, two types of devices can be noted:

  • Simple thermostats. Such thermostats have only one function - maintaining the set temperature.
  • The programmable devices allow monitoring of the temperature at a higher level, with the possibility of establishing a temperature regime for a whole week, alternating the desired morning and night temperatures. Such instruments are undoubtedly more convenient to operate, they are distinguished by modern design and higher price.

Features of the placement and installation of the thermostat

For the most effective functioning of the heating system, manufacturers of temperature regulators advise observance of several simple rules:

  • The temperature sensor should be installed in the coldest room of all heated, in places remote from radiators and other working appliances capable of radiating heat. When choosing a place for the sensor, it is necessary to exclude the possibility of mechanical damage to the device during operation. According to the technical rules, the room thermostat is mounted at a height of 1.3-1.5 m above the floor.
  • It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and drafts on the thermal sensor for the most correct tracking of the data.
  • Install and adjust the thermostat strictly in accordance with the operating instructions.
  • If possible, choose a thermoregulating device from the same company as the boiler to ensure the best compatibility of the instruments.
