Why do orchids fall buds? The orchids dry buds, what should I do?

The beauty of orchids is impossible not to fall in love. According to one of the ancient legends, they are nothing but fragments of a rainbow that fell to the ground. German botanist Ritter von Blume took orchids for living butterflies. Flowers of some species and truth are similar to these fantastically beautiful creatures. Owners of orchids love them and are proud of them. Unfortunately, sometimes the plant does not blossom. Why do orchids fall buds? What does she lack?

Species diversity

Many will be surprised to learn that orchids are distributed around the globe. There are no only them beyond the Arctic Circle and in Antarctica. And the variety of orchids affects not less than their beauty. According to the latest data, there are about 35 thousand species of these flowers. There are even those that bloom underground! But the vast majority still live in the tropics. One of the main reasons why the orchids fall buds, is that the conditions of its content do not correspond to natural ones.

The sizes of different species of orchids vary greatly. Some are absolutely crumbs, only a few millimeters, others are real giants, growing to 30 meters. And the duration of their lives is also different. Some live a little, others delight in their beauty to 70 years. In the room, unfortunately, this period is much shorter and ranges from 7 to 15 years, depending on the type and correctness of care. Sometimes, the orchids fall off buds because of her advanced age, although she still throws out the flower arrow. After all, when you buy the seller is unlikely to have reported the date of her birth.

Air Roots

Despite the huge variety of species, all orchids are divided into epiphytes, that is, those that live on other plants, lithophytes living on rocks, and terrestrial ones. In our homes, you can often find orchids, epiphytes, for example, phalaenopsis. To some of us, the intricate intertwining of their air roots seems odd . But they phalaenopsis breathe. In addition, in the unusual roots of the orchids there is a velaman, a special suction cloth. With her help, the flower is stored in moisture. Such "light" orchids live for about 2 years, then die and are replaced with new ones. It is important that everything is in order with the root system of the plant. This applies to air roots, and to ordinary underground ones. If there are few living, healthy roots, then the area of absorption and respiration decreases. This is another reason why the orchids fall off buds. This is especially true of species with thin leaves. Therefore, behind the root system, it is necessary to watch and protect it as from an excess of moisture, and from excessive dryness.

Floral Stresses

Often happens: you buy in the store a magnificent blooming handsome man, and brought home, he stood for a day or two and wilted. The reasons why in this case the orchids dry buds may be several. One of them may be that the environment habitual for the flower has changed. Do not be surprised, plants are also stressed. If this is the case, the orchid will necessarily blossom again. It is much worse if you have acquired a sick plant. A healthy orchid on leaflets has no spots, airy roots are silvery, slightly green after irrigation, and the underground root system - without rot and is well developed. Some may ask why the seller's plant blossomed, but did not want to go home? Because in the store he had a familiar environment, and, perhaps, he was stuffed with various stimulants. At home all this it lost, that's dropped the buds.

Sun, air and water

In our apartments, the most widespread phalaenopsis orchid. The buds of her fall, even in a completely healthy, due to improper lighting. It should be enough, so you can not put a pot with a flower deep into the room. If the flower threw an arrow in a period when there is not enough natural light, you need to organize it backlighting. But a lot of sun is harmful to orchids. In the summer they must be hidden from direct sunlight, which dry up the roots, harm the leaves. To do this, the plant is pritenyayut, for example, curtains. If the window goes to the sunny side, it is desirable to rearrange the flower in a place where it's warm, but not hot.

But in winter, you can damage the plant overheating. In many homes, the batteries "shparyat" are serious. The heat coming from them, greatly drains the air. Orchids do not like this. If possible, it is better to rearrange them to another location. If this is not possible, you can install humidifiers near the orchids. It is also possible to carry out regular spraying of the plant. Take for this you need only purified water.

In addition to the correct lighting and humidity, the orchid needs proper irrigation. It is clear that with excess water, the roots decay, and with a lack of dry. Experts advise to check the humidity of the substrate in the pot with the flower to the touch. Watering the plant is necessary when the soil is only slightly moist. Some recommend that the orchid should not be watered, but for 40 minutes put in a basin with warm clean water. The plant itself will take moisture as much as it needs.

Heat and cold

An incorrect temperature regime is another reason why the orchids fall off buds. Firstly, it can be overcooled on the way from the store home, especially if it's frost outside. Secondly, perhaps, where there is a pot of orchids, often opens the vent for ventilation. Thirdly, the draft is annoyed by drafts. Well, fourthly, the temperature in the room does not match the one that the plant needs.

As already noted above, orchids are common in almost all climatic zones. To correctly determine the temperature for each orchid, you need to find out where its natural habitat is. For residents of the tropics in the summer suitable for 26-30 degrees Celsius, in winter - 15-20. For those plants that are spread slightly to the north, in summer the temperature of the air should not exceed 22-25 degrees Celsius, and in winter - 12-15. But for cold-loving beauties, the temperature regime is maintained in the summer in the range of 20-22 degrees, and in winter - up to 15.

For all plants, the temperature difference over 5 degrees Celsius, for example, day and night, is highly undesirable.

Diseases

Sometimes the owners comply with all the rules of care, but still fall off the buds of the orchid. The reason can be covered in small parasites that have settled on the plant. One of them is mealy worm. This insect sucks out the juice from the orchid and injects poison into it. It is easy to notice the pest. In the affected plant, the leaves change color, and a white coating appears on the buds. It is necessary to fight the chervets mechanically, clearing the leaves and cutting all the flowers.

The second pest is gray rot. It is a fungus that appears due to improper care. If the leaves of the orchid have spots with a gray bloom, and on flowers and buds - watery dew, darkening over time, we can assume that the flower is sick. He must be treated immediately. The success of plant conservation depends on this.
