When is the International Day of Energy Conservation? History of the holiday and congratulations

An excellent occasion to reflect on ways to save energy at home and in the workplace is the International Day of Energy Conservation.

Goals of the Energy Saving Day

The decision to create the holiday was made at the gatherings of the SPARE coordinators, held in Kazakhstan in 2008. The desire to participate in such a project expressed about twenty countries, in connection with which the holiday was given the status of an international one.

The main goal of this day is to attract public attention to the development of renewable energy sources, to search for and assimilation of new, rational use of resources.

When is the Day of Energy Saving?

Within the framework of the project there are various events: from conferences, exhibitions, seminars, street actions to thematic lectures and warming of buildings. Institutions for nature protection, educational institutions, research institutes and other state organizations participate in the celebration of the International Day of Energy Conservation. When is this holiday celebrated?

The use of electricity in everyday life has long ceased to be a luxury. In modern realities, if the electric current is stopped by wires, the world will stop and cease to exist in a civilized way. And this is really so: today a person is infinitely dependent on a given substance. Therefore, electricity should be saved, and energy resources should be protected. Public attention to this problem is being attracted on November 11 - the International Day of Energy Conservation.

What can each of us do in practice?

Save. And you can start small: do not leave electrical appliances on in standby mode. Turned out the light in rooms where you are not, will not only stop the thoughtless consumption of electricity, but also significantly reduce payments for using this service.

Reasonable will be the replacement of bulbs in the apartment for energy-saving luminescent. They serve much longer than usual and, despite the high cost, fully justify their purpose. The average service life is 1000 hours, the warm-up temperature is low. In addition, you should conduct a survey of the dwelling for heat loss and eliminate its leakage.

Knowing the specifics of the "behavior" of electrical appliances will also positively affect the issue of electricity consumption. For example:

  • The included refrigerator consumes more electricity if installed near walls, heating batteries, heating appliances.
  • When using a vacuum cleaner, you should regularly remove the dust bag from debris. Thus, the harvesting mechanism will consume electricity several times less.
  • Significantly, you can save electricity by installing a two-tariff meter; At night hours, the rates of electricity use are much lower.

International Day for Energy Conservation: to usefully

If we consider the situation of energy consumption in the context of the country, then it is satisfied with the deplorable situation. In many state institutions, the state of lighting systems is unsatisfactory. Consequently, their power consumption is several times higher than the permissible values. In combination with other factors, this all not only negatively affects human health, but also leads to prohibitively high spending for maintaining the lighting systems in working order.

What can a normal, average consumer do on the International Day of Energy Conservation?

  • Conduct a conversation with a family about how to pay less for electricity. To bring close to convincing arguments on their own example, to discuss what the future holds for mankind in the unwise use of natural wealth.
  • Send out information leaflets calling to save energy resources to friends and acquaintances in electronic form or on paper carriers. Competent agitation is a very effective tool, provided that it is correctly applied.
  • Draw a wall newspaper. Especially this method is relevant if the child is in school. The younger generation from a young age should understand the urgency of the problem of energy conservation.

Everyone should understand that measures aimed at saving energy resources are several times cheaper than their production and transportation in the same amount. In addition, the most common energy-saving measures can be universally applied in everyday life by every inhabitant of the planet.

When leaving, extinguish the light!

Since 2008, representatives of the public from different countries, not indifferent to the issue of saving energy resources, are trying to make any memorable International Day for Energy Saving. In 2014, for example, in Belarus, in social networks, a contest was announced for the best chastushki about light bulbs. A dictionary of environmental terms was published in Minsk. Young artists from many schools worked on this ecoslovak. In different countries, workshops are held on the topic: "Alternative sources of electricity", "Energy saving around us", "Consumption and recycling of materials" and so on.

Congratulations on the International Day of Energy Conservation can be spoken to each other a great deal, but their essence boils down to one thing: you should protect the wealth given to us by Nature, spend them reasonably and think about what we can leave to future generations. So start with yourself. When leaving, extinguish the light!
