What you need to know about how to tame a parrot to your hands

Parrots have recently reached the same level of popularity among pets as cats and dogs. Caring for them is relatively simple, since a parrot settles in a house does not need to walk like a dog, or accustom it to a tray like a kitten. There are, of course, special rules aimed at the most successful adaptation of birds in the house. There is a need for the parrot to get used to people and the problem is how to tame the parrot to his hands.

The success of taming a bird largely depends on her age. The younger the parrot, the better. And on the contrary, the longer a parrot lives in an enclosure surrounded by its own kind, the more difficult it will be for him to get used to the owners. The problem with how to tame a parrot to his hands becomes even more acute if the parrot gets into the house from the street or from another master - in this case, a change in the situation will be more stressful for him than buying it in a shop or a breeder. In this case, the domestication of the parrot can be prolonged for a long time. But if you have the patience and desire, you can tame even an adult parrot.

Before you tame the parrot to your hands, it is necessary to prepare a well-equipped cage for it in advance - there should be a daily amount of feed in the feeding troughs, fresh water in the trough, a clean sheet of printing paper or writing paper should be placed on the bottom. Newspapers are inadmissible due to the toxicity of the ink. The perches are needed in the cage, wooden, plastic is best secured outside - like external roosts for the first walks. It is undesirable to transport a parrot in the cage that will be its home. It is better to use for this purpose a special carrying cage or a cardboard box with air holes.

As soon as the parrot is delivered to the apartment, the carry must be brought to the open door of the cage so that the bird itself crosses the threshold of the cage. After this, it is necessary to leave the parrot one for the rest of the day or for 5-6 hours - it needs to adapt and get used to the situation, and, if possible, do not go into the room where the cage is installed, or, while remaining in the field of view of the bird, Sharp movements and loud sounds. On how the period of adaptation will pass , the taming of the parrot also depends.

The next day it is necessary to refresh water in the water bowl and feed, replace the paper in the pan. Undesirable, again, sudden movements, increasing the volume of the voice, and you need to try, as little as possible to put your hands inside the cage. Follow-up recommendations on how to tame the parrot to his hands, can be used only after the bird has ceased to be frightened by the owner and accustomed to his voice.

To begin with, you can give him grain by hand through the bars of the cage - you do not need to insist, let the parrot take food. For more rapid achievement of the result, it is recommended to start taming the parrot in the morning, at a time when he is still hungry. In addition, the hands should not smell even with soap - before feeding the parrot it is necessary to wash them in plain water. It may take more than a day, but you need to be patient. As soon as the bird starts to confidently take the food from the fingers, you can try to bring the hand with the food in the palm of your hand to the cage close to the perch and hold it there for a while, until the parrot sits on it or at least takes it from her food. After you managed to tame the parrot, you can start releasing the parrot from the cage - this will be the final stage in domestication.

At the same time, persistence is also inappropriate. It is necessary either to take the parrot out of the cage on the arm, provided that he himself sat on it, or simply open the cage in case of his disagreement. Sooner or later the parrot will become interesting and it will get out. As soon as the parrot flies the first few circles inside the room, it can be called back into the cage by raising a hand to it with a small amount of food or an open cage. If you can not return it in this way, you can resort to extreme measures - by turning off the light. But it is desirable that one person is next to the switch, the other - to catch a parrot. Alone, this should not be done - the parrot can feel the touch and fly, but as they see badly in the dark, it can hit something. Therefore, at the moment of take-off, the light must immediately turn on.

In general, the domestication of the parrot takes a different amount of time in each specific case, some birds very quickly get used to a person, up to a week, others may take months. In any case, having shown patience, acting kindly and not hurrying up the events, you can achieve significant results.
