What is Opera - the best browser or an outdated program?

Yes, the first association that comes to the mind of an ordinary person with the word "opera" is a huge theater, an official setting, expensive decorations. But not only does the art form bear such a name.

Active users of the World Wide Web will answer the question about what an opera is, otherwise, you will learn from them that it is also an excellent web browser.

The history of the Opera browser began 19 years ago, in 1994, before the first browser war. Created by his enthusiasts from a large Norwegian corporation Telenor.

There are versions of Opera, running in Windows, Android, Linux, MacOS. The browser, thus, can be called cross-platform.

Opera for PC occupies a small share of the browser market (slightly more than 2%), but this indicator does not say anything about its quality. The program code of the application includes many of the authors' own workings of Opera. The most famous of these features is the Opera Turbo mode, the inclusion of which allows the user to compress traffic several times, which helps to save money if he sits on the Internet at a limit rate.

Do not forget what the Opera is, and fans of smartphones and tablets. For such devices, a special version of the browser was developed - Opera Mini. Just like the older version, the program has the function of traffic compression, which for smartphone owners is very good, because there are no acceptable unlimited tariffs for mobile Internet in Russia yet. And with Opera Mini everything is very simple and understandable, and the traffic savings reaches 75%.

Opera for Windows 7 is available for direct free download on the official website of the developer. Users will find here a lot of different assemblies of the distribution program. For Opera, more than 60 language localizations have been created, so it does not matter where you are from China or Peru, you can use the browser without a dictionary and in full.

There is also a version called Opera Mobile, which, in essence, duplicates Opera Mini, so the success it enjoys only for novice users and owners of old smartphones. The program code of the application is rather cumbersome, so it often slows down and gives errors on some devices.

It is likely that soon we will forget what Opera is, because the browser developers either jokingly, or seriously announced their intention to go to the Chromium engine, which means that all the Norwegian code written will fly to the Trash. It is possible that this news was a rally, but IT experts are sure that the developers' statements have a basis and are aimed, first of all, to popularize the new, 13th version of the browser in the world.

Today, Opera positions itself as the "fastest Internet browser in the world", but no one can say for sure whether it will be used in the future, or simply will be sent to a virtual museum, like the same Netscape. The Internet does not tolerate the weak, and therefore a lot of different browsers, built on obsolete engines, will die. Only history can answer the question about what Opera is - the fastest independent browser or another potential clone of Google Chrome. Of course, many users of the World Wide Web are using both, and that browser. Someone finds for themselves convenience in the first, someone in the second. Perhaps this is due to the fact that people are just getting used to what they have always used.
