What is bulgur and how can it be used in cooking?

One of the products produced from traditional in the middle latitudes of wheat is the Bulgur porridge. Recipes for the preparation of this cereal are mainly found in Arabic, Indian and Mediterranean cuisines. Despite the rather high caloric content, bulgur is considered a dietary product, as it is well absorbed and contains sodium, zinc, calcium and other trace elements, as well as a sufficient amount of vitamins. This must certainly be taken into account for people who still do not know what Bulgur is. In the cooking of different countries it is cooked both as a side dish and as the main dish. Porridge with dried fruits

Those who do not yet know what bulgur is, you can recommend starting an acquaintance with him from this dish. Porridge can be cooked for breakfast or used during other meals. On a glass of cereals take 50 grams of raisins, pistachios and dried cherries, 100 grams of dried apricots and half a lemon. Still need a spoon of honey, 50 g of butter and salt to taste.

Vitamin salad

It is generally known that this dish can be created in principle from anything. It is referred to as snacks (usually cold) and served before the main dish. However, this salad turns out to be sufficiently satisfying to fully satisfy the hunger. In addition, it is delicious and light, so you can treat even those who are on a diet. Especially will like a salad to those who do not know what Bulgur is, and never tried it. For them, it will also be a mystery.

On a glass of bulgur should take 400 ml of broth (preferably chicken), 200 g of brynza, a bunch of spinach, 300 grams of fresh cucumbers and sweet peppers. For filling, you will need olive oil (4 tablespoons), lime, salt, a mixture of peppers.

Bulgur is boiled in boiling salted broth for 15 minutes and left to cool. Vegetables are washed, cleaned and cut into cubes. Spinach is torn, but the cheese is crumbled. All the ingredients are combined and poured with a dressing. It is made by mixing the juice of lime with olive oil, having salted to taste and adding pepper.

Those who know what Bulgur is, and tried it in simple dishes (porridges, salads), you can advise preparing more complicated options. For example, pilaf is cooked from it. Use this groats and as a basis for meat or vegetable stew. Bulgur is delicious and friable and makes variety in the daily diet.
