Vorya is a river in the heart of Russia

The Vorya River (Moscow Region) originates from the village of Dumino. As soon as the channel is outlined, it is lost in the swamp behind Lake Ozeretsky, and then again comes to the surface, carrying its fast waters to the Klyazma.

Distinctive features and characteristics

Vorya is a river that is famous for its icy water. Its temperature even on the hottest days warms up only 5-7 degrees above zero. This phenomenon is explained simply: along the whole course of the river Voryu is fed by cold underground keys.

The total length of the riverine sleeve is about one hundred meters, and the width, with the exception of individual sections, does not exceed four. In the area of the railway bridge, passing in the city of Krasnoarmeysk, the channel extends to 10-12 meters.

Despite the fact that many small tributaries flow into the river, it does not differ in depth. Only in the days of spring high water level can rise to three meters. Nevertheless, Vorya is very popular with fans of canoeing, and the abundance in these places of the fish invariably attracts people who dream of sitting on the shore with a fishing rod and enjoy a good catch.

Where did the name of the river come from

Sometimes you can hear that Vorya got her name from the word "thief". It happened in those times when the river served as a water trading route for ancient Rusich. Passed merchant ships here were often attacked by robbers who lived in coastal forests. This version is refuted by scientists who proved that in these places long before the appearance of the Slavs the Baltic tribes settled.

The name of the river was given for its meandering course. In translation from Lithuanian, the vorian sounds like "changeable". There is another option. Some local historians believe that the name of the river lies at the base of the threat of the Finnish toponym vuori, meaning "mountain" or "forest".

Historical reference

The main territory, which covers the Vorya River, is the Moscow Region. The history of human development of these places goes back to ancient times. In the river valleys, you can find mounds, the age of which is several millennia. In Russian letters, the first mention of one of the oldest settlements near the river dates back to 1327. The village of Vorya-Bogorodskoye existed already under Prince Ivan Kalita. In the XVI-XVII centuries. It received the status of the Moscow district camp, which included the lands of the middle Povorje.

Vorya is a river that used to be navigable and was part of a system of trade routes connecting the tributaries of the Klyazma and the Moskva River with streams flowing into the Volga. In the forests, close to the shore, for a long time, lived a lot of wild animals and birds. The flood meadows were used by the local population for the arrangement of gardens, grazing and fodder for farm animals. Pure waters were full of fish and crabs, the river surface was decorated with its flowering lilies and water lilies.

sights

The centuries-old history of the villages on the Vorya River is interesting. Before the war, as, indeed, now, one of the significant places was the Abramtsevo estate, which before the revolution belonged to the families of the Aksakovs and Mamontovs. In the years 1918-1932. The manor was transferred to the status of a museum by decision of the People's Committee for Education. Then they organized a rest house for artists. In different years, composer Tikhon Khrennikov, director Grigory Alexandrov and his wife, actress Lyubov Orlova and many other famous personalities of those years visited Abramtsevo. Here created their masterpieces artists Nesterov, Korovin, Polenov.

Vorya is a river, which during the war was one of the defensive lines on the outskirts of Moscow. On the banks and today you can see overgrown with grass soldiers' trenches. In military hard times museum exhibits from the estate were evacuated, and a hospital was built in its walls. In 1947, Abramtsevo passed to the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and three years later the newly organized museum opened the doors for the first visitors.

In the Soviet years, near the village of Bykovo and in the area of Abramtseva, dams were made, well-arranged approaches to which have become a favorite vacation spot for urban residents. The power of workers at the Elektroizolit factory built a dam, planted trees and shrubs that adorned the winding banks of the Vori.

Ecological cataclysms

The first dams, which maintain a high water level, were built here several centuries ago. In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the system of dams expanded considerably, causing irreparable damage to the river. Separate meadows turned out to be swamped, coastal plantings fell into the flood zone, which, falling into the channel, created insurmountable obstacles to the passage of fish and river animals. Increasing with every year the silting of the bottom along with the dumping of industrial wastes turned once the cleanest full-water canal into a littered river.

The current state of the waterway

The economic activity of a man adversely affected the external appearance of river banks and the quality of water. In 2005, cleaning works were carried out here. To this end, I had to open one of the dams. As a result, the river has considerably become shallow, which made it easy for the surrounding and visiting fishermen. Local residents still remember that some thirty years ago from the thief could take water for drinking. In recent years, it is impossible even to swim in some areas.

The fish in the Vorya River, despite the barbaric extermination of nets and electric fishing rods, is still found. Lovers of fishing are pleased with the increased numbers of pike, roach, bream, chub, perch. On the banks, their heron nests are arranged, dams were built, built by hardworking beavers. However, even today, efforts are needed to clean the swampy channels, restore and protect green spaces along the shoreline. I really want to believe that Vorya is a river, which in the future will give people coolness of its crystal waters.
