VAZ 21154 - the new look of the national car
Work on the new version was launched back in 1993, when the AvtoVAZ employees began work on the redesigned design of the 99th model.
Pioneers in the new appearance were three- and five-door hatchbacks of the 13th and 14th models, later the new "armor" was applied to both the 15th model and its modifications, among which VAZ 21154 is also listed. It was planned to start the serial production of the updated sedan already in 1994, However, as we know, another crisis began in the country. As a result, all the forces and means had to be concentrated on finishing work on the "ten". Financing of the long-suffering project "Samara-2" was largely curtailed and suspended several times. As a result, of the three restyling versions, which are being prepared for release, production continued only in VAZ 21154, and it took about 2 years to complete the work.
In comparison with its predecessor, VAZ 21154 became 2 cm longer. Significantly changed the exterior of the front and rear of the car, radically updated the salon. Sidewalls, roof and door changes have not undergone. Characteristic features of the car were the original front lights, a new shape of the front wings and bonnet, modified rear lights with a design insert between them, body-colored bumpers, a trunk spoiler on which an additional stop lamp flashes, fairings of the thresholds, door moldings, an updated trunk lid With a connector at the floor level. There is also a new spectacular lighting technology. What else is worth mentioning, speaking of the design of VAZ 21154? Characteristics indicate that a number of design decisions were borrowed from cars of the "tenth" family, for example, the upper points of attachment of seat belts, an adjustable steering column, and a dashboard. Another vivid example of copying - the back number by analogy with the VAZ 2110 is located on the bumper.
As for powertrains, the VAZ 21154 is equipped with gasoline engines in two versions: 1.5 and 1.6 liters. Initially, however, modifications were made with a carburetor engine, but in 2001 saw the light of a motor with a distributed fuel injection. In order to increase the life of the engine and to reduce the noise level at idle, a new slave clutch disc is provided. The indication of a simple on-board system warns of the closing of the door lock, extreme wear of the brake pads, seat belts unfastened, the level of oil and other liquids left by the ignition key. The car is available in three trim levels: standard, "standard" and VAZ 21154 lux.
