Use aperture priority to achieve artistic effect

Modern cameras provide a wide range of possibilities, while the result can be seen immediately on the screen. All this allows you to experiment and learn much faster and more efficiently. Consider one of the basic functions - the priority of the aperture.

We will not confuse you with scientific terms, but we will explain more simply. With the help of aperture, you achieve a blurred background effect, which is especially important in macro photography, portrait photography and other cases where you need to select the main object in the picture.

The priority of the aperture is also selected for shooting landscapes, when the clarity of each detail is important. In this case, f8 or f16 will work for you. Of course, do not forget about the shutter speed, but this will only be needed in manual mode. If you set the aperture priority, the shutter speed is adjusted automatically.

Experimenting with macro shooting and creating a panorama, use a tripod. The camera is fixed also at night shooting or simply bad illumination. It is desirable that your tripod be adjusted in height.

Manual mode

In most cases, Canon cameras and other brands indicate this mode "M" - Manual, that is manual. Here you have the freedom to choose all the parameters, the number and quality of which depends on the camera. If you have mastered the principle of shutter speed and aperture, then this mode will become for you the opportunity to get new effects. So, experimenting with the aperture value, you can blur the background stronger or weaker.

This photo shows that the background is almost completely blurred, and some of the leaves in the foreground are also blurred. Only the bird is in focus.

In the following photo, you can compare how the aperture priority affects the shot. On one of the photos we see a man with a dog, and a background. All the details are clearly visible. In another photo, the story only revolves around a man with a dog, and the background becomes only an addition, an artistic component. What more you like and what suits your idea, then you choose.

ISO speed

Talking about the diaphragm, you can not lose sight of this parameter. Many newcomers believe that the higher the ISO (photosensitivity), the better. But not in all cases it is so.

It is undesirable without much need to greatly increase the sensitivity, as this negatively affects the result - there is a "noise", or, as it is also called, "granularity".

In order to train in the development of the diaphragm, it is not necessary to go to nature and look for insects, birds and animals. Macro photography and background blur in portrait photography can be learned at home. It's even better, because when you try to make a beautiful picture in nature you will not have time to experiment with the modes. You will need to know how to set up the camera, and whether the shutter priority is necessary in this situation.

High quality photos and a decent artistic effect can provide only professional cameras (Nikon and Canon, for example). These two companies are leaders in the modern market. Their products meet all the requirements in a technical aspect and help create true masterpieces.
