Troekurov and Dubrovsky: a comparative characterization of the characters

The collected works of our beloved poet and writer Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin have more than 10 volumes. "Dubrovsky" - a novel, known to us from school years. Broad in its scope and deep in psychological content, it affects the soul of every reader. The main characters of the novel are Troekurov and Dubrovsky. Comparative characteristics of the main characters, as well as the main events of the work will be studied in more detail.

Russian master

The action in the novel takes place in the 19th century. It is described in sufficient detail in the works of many classics of the time. As you know, in those days there was a serfdom. Peasants, or as they were called, souls, were owned by noblemen.

The Russian gentleman, haughty Kirila Petrovich Troyekurov, was a very distinguished man. Before him, not only wards of the serfs fluttered, but also many officials.

Troyekurov's way of life left much to be desired: he spent his days idly, often drinking and suffering from gluttony.

The peasants fluttered in front of him, and he, in turn, treated them rather capriciously, showing his complete authority over them.

Troyekurov's favorite entertainment was mockery and mockery of animals and people. Suffice it to recall the bear, who rolled a barrel with sticking nails and was angry with pain. This caused a laugh from the master. Or a scene with a bear that was chained to chains in a small room. Everyone who entered it was attacked by a poor animal. Troekurov enjoyed the fury of the bear and of human fear.

Modest nobleman

Troekurov and Dubrovsky, whose comparative characteristics will be examined in detail by us, are very different people. Andrei Gavrilovich - honest, valiant, calm in character, he was strikingly different from his friend. Once the senior Dubrovsky and Troyekurov were colleagues. But careerist Kirila Petrovich, after betraying his honor, took the side of the new king, and earned a high rank. Andrei Gavrilovich, who remained loyal to his ruler, completed his service as a modest lieutenant. Nevertheless, the relations between Troyekurov and Dubrovsky were quite friendly and mutually respectful. They often met, visited each other in estates, and conducted conversations.

Both heroes had similar destinies: they started a service together, were soon widowed, had a child in their upbringing. But life divorced them on different sides.

Quarrel

Nothing foretold troubles. But once the relationship between Troyekurov and Dubrovsky gave a crack. The phrase written by Kirill Petrovich's clerk greatly offended Andrei Gavrilovich. Serfdom said that the serfs live better with Troyekurov than some noblemen. It was, of course, a modest Dubrovsky.

Right after that he went to his estate. Kirila Petrovich ordered him to return it, but Andrei Gavrilovich did not want to return to anything. Such impudence touched the master, and he decided at all costs to achieve his.

Comparison of Dubrovsky and Troyekurov will be incomplete if one does not describe what method Kirila Petrovich decided to take revenge on his comrade.

Insidious plan

Having no effect on Dubrovsky, Troyekurov conceived the terrible thing - to take away his friend's estate. How did he dare disobey him! Undoubtedly, it was very cruel to the old acquaintance.

Were Troyekurov and Dubrovsky true friends? Comparative characteristics of these characters will help in this.

Kirila Petrovich bribed all indiscriminately officials, forged papers. Dubrovsky, after learning about the lawsuit, remained fairly calm, because he was convinced of his absolute innocence.

Shabashkin, hired by Troekurov, was busy with all the dirty tricks, although he knew that the estate of Kistenevka, by full legal right, belonged to Dubrovsky. But everything turned differently.

Scene in court

And then came that exciting hour. Meeting at the courthouse, Troyekurov and Dubrovsky (a comparative assessment which will be given us later) behaved proudly and went to the meeting room. Kirila Petrovich felt very free. He already felt the taste of victory. Dubrovsky, on the contrary, behaved very calmly, stood leaning against the wall, and did not worry at all.

The judge began reading the long decision. When it was all over, there was silence. Dubrovsky was completely bewildered. At first he was silent for a while, and afterwards he became enraged, with force pushed away the secretary, who suggested that he sign the papers. He began to rave, loudly shouting something about psyarns and dogs. He was hardly seated and taken home by sleigh.

The triumphant Troekurov did not expect such a turn of events. Seeing the former comrade in a terrible state, he was upset and even ceased to triumph over his victory over him.

Andrei Gavrilovich was taken home, where he felt sick. Under the supervision of a doctor, he spent more than one day.

Repentance

Comparison of Dubrovsky and Troyekurov is based on the complete opposition of the heroes. Kirila Petrovich, so haughty and overbearing, and Andrei Gavrilovich, a kind and honest man, could not continue their communication for a long time. But after the trial, the heart of Troyekurov thawed. He decided to go to his former friend and talk.

However, he did not even suspect that by that time Vladimir, his son, was already in the house of Dubrovsky senior.

Seeing in the window arrived Kiril Petrovich, the shocked Andrei Gavrilovich did not survive this and died suddenly.

And Troekurov could not explain the reason for his arrival, he could not repent before another for the crime he committed.

And this novel changes its turn: Vladimir decides to take revenge on the enemy for his father.

The appearance of Vladimir

It is worth saying a few words about the personality of this young man. Early left without a mother, the boy was in the care of his father. At the age of twelve, he was sent to the Cadet Corps, and then continued his military training in the higher institution. Father did not spare any money to raise his son, he provided it well. But the young man spent his time in debaucheries and card games, had big debts. Now that he is completely alone, and even without housing, he feels very lonely. He had to quickly grow up and change his life abruptly.

Troekurov and Vladimir Dubrovsky are becoming fierce enemies. The son is considering the plan of revenge for the offender of his father.

When the estate was taken away and passed into the possession of Kirilla Petrovich, Vladimir remained without means of subsistence. He has to become a robber in order to earn his livelihood. Loved by his serfs, he was able to gather a whole team of like-minded people. They rob rich people, but they bypass Troyekurov's estate. He, of course, thinks that the young man is afraid of him, so he does not go to him with robbery.

Troekurov in the novel "Dubrovsky" showed himself as a man of pride, but at the same time afraid that Vladimir will come to him once to take revenge.

Dubrovsky in the house of Troekurov

But our young hero was not so simple. He suddenly appears in the estate of Kirill Petrovich. But nobody knows him there - he was not at home for many years. Having exchanged documents with the teacher-Frenchman and having paid him well, Vladimir appears to the family of Troekurovs as the teacher of Deforge. He speaks good French, and no one can suspect Dubrovsky in him.

Perhaps a young man would have been able to translate all his plans for revenge into life, but one thing hinders him, love. Suddenly, Vladimir was fascinated by Masha, the daughter of his enemy, Troyekurov.

This love changes the lives of all the characters in the novel. Now Dubrovsky Jr. does not want revenge. He renounces evil thoughts in the name of his beloved woman. But Masha does not yet know who this actually is, Deforge.

Troyekurov himself began to respect the young Frenchman, he was proud of his boldness and modesty. But the time has come, and Vladimir confesses to Masha in her feelings and who he really is. The girl is confused - the father will not allow them to be together.

When the truth is learned by Kirila Petrovich, he decides the issue cardinally - gives the daughter in marriage to the rich prince Vereisky in spite of her wish.

Vladimir does not have time to come to church during the wedding, and now she is no longer his Masha, but Princess Vereiskaya. Vladimir has no choice but to go far. Kirila Petrovich is more than satisfied with the situation.

Conclusion

Troekurov and Dubrovsky, whose comparative characteristics are presented by us in all details, are absolutely different in type heroes. It can not be said that Kirila Petrovich was a terrible person - he still repented of his vile deed. But life did not give him a chance to be forgiven.

And Andrew, and Vladimir Dubrovsky - very ambitious, noble people. They are respected by serfs, and they, in turn, do not oppress them. However, Pushkin teaches us all: no circumstances should lead to extreme measures. Friendship is more than just communication, and it needs to be able to cherish.
