The volume of the KAMAZ truck body - a review of models

Open Joint-Stock Company KAMAZ is one of the largest truck manufacturers in the CIS. This enterprise is engaged in the production of truck tractors, airborne and thermal vans, as well as dump trucks. To date, this dumper model is one of the most used in the agricultural industry. Its main advantages are low cost, build quality and reliability of the engine. And everything began in the distant 1988 year, when the Kama plant decided to update its line of dump trucks. It came to replace the old ten-ton model 5511. The novelty was equipped with a new cabin, distinguished by its height and rectangular headlights, built into the bumper. Unlike the 250th KRAZA, the cabin of the novelty was metal. The sleeping place in it was absent (it would never have been useful at the construction site). The salon accommodated the driver and one passenger. Comfortable steps provide a quick and safe entrance to the salon. The design of the new KAMAZ had some similarities with the 15-ton dump truck of the 65115 model. Their main differences are the load-carrying capacity and fuel consumption. The body is made of all-metal steel. Looking at its shape, you can immediately see an additional visor over the cabin (an additional security measure). According to the reviews, the body is convenient because its side can be enlarged, thereby increasing the "cubature".

The total volume of the KAMAZ truck body was 6.6 cubic meters without additional sides. With the "accreted" sides, the useful volume increased to 10-13 cubic meters. But this does not mean that the load capacity of the truck will also increase. Many drivers forget about this and load up to 15 tons of sand or rubble into the machine. From such an overload, wheels can burst. Unloading of loose materials is carried out with the help of a three-stage hydraulic cylinder, which is activated via a power take-off. The machine has a trailing device, due to which KAMAZ will transport 2 times more crushed stone and sand in the road train.

This four-axle model is the most huge, volume and load-lifting among all other dump trucks. The truck is equipped with a KAMAZ 750-360 engine with a power of 360 horsepower. Thanks to this unit, it is able to pull loads of up to 20 tons inclusive. And due to high ground clearance, it easily copes with the hills, pits and other irregularities. There are two mechanical gearboxes - nine and ten steps. There is also a 16-speed ZF box. The total volume of the KAMAZ body of the 6540 dump truck is 20 cubic meters. Like the 55111, the four-axle truck has a trailing device, thanks to which it is possible to increase the load-carrying capacity by about 1.5 times.
