The Pushkin family: from ancestors to descendants

The name of Alexander Pushkin is known to every Russian person. Everyone in his childhood read his wonderful fairy tales, while at school he studied poetic works and novels. This is the greatest poet whose work is worth considering on a world scale. He is largely due to his family, which we will talk about in this article.

Origin

According to legend, the noble family of Pushkin comes from the noble "husband" Radshi, who lived in the twelfth century. Alexander himself, who studied his genealogical tree, mentioned his ancestor in the poem My Pedigree, and also named him the hero of Ruslan and Lyudmila.

The Pushkin family, no doubt, was proud of its ancestors, especially it concerned Abram Petrovich Hannibal, the great-grandfather of the poet.

He was born around 1697. Earlier, Ethiopia was the place of his birth, but modern studies show that Abram was born in the Sultanate of Logon, which was located on the modern territory of the Republic of Chad.

In his early childhood, Pushkin's great-grandfather was kidnapped. Peter the Great, who loved various rarities, bought it from a slaver in Europe. Since then the arachunok lived under the tsar.

As a young man, Abram received a secretary from the emperor and a salary of one hundred rubles. He studied in France, participated in the Spanish war. After returning to Russia in 1723, he became an engineer-lieutenant of the Preobrazhensky regiment.

After the death of Peter I was exiled to Siberia. After the accession of Elizabeth, Hannibal rose. By the end of his life he had risen to the rank of general-anshef.

Abram Petrovich had eleven children, including Osip's son - Pushkin's grandfather.

Mother

The Pushkin family has ancient military traditions that go back centuries. Osip Abramovich also went in these footsteps - he served in naval artillery. He resigned as a captain of the 2nd rank.

Osip Hannibal was not an exemplary nobleman, had many debts and was accused of bigamy.

Osip and his wife Maria had only one daughter - Hope.

Pushkin's mother was born in Petersburg in 1775, after parting her parents often came to the Kobrino estate. And at the age of twenty-one she married Sergei Pushkin.

Nadezhda Osipovna was never close to her son Alexander, she was distinguished by unprecedented rigor and exactingness. However, the poet was very fond of his mother and was in the middle of a serious illness that took her life.

Pushkin's mother died in 1836 and was buried in the Svyatogorsk Monastery. Pushkin, accompanying his mother in the last way, bought a place next to her grave for herself.

Father

Pushkin's father was also from the family of servicemen, and since his birth he was enrolled in the army. His father, Lev Aleksandrovich, resigned as a lieutenant colonel. The poet, remembering his grandfather, said that he was a tough and even cruel person.

Sergei Lvovich married early and moved to Moscow from St. Petersburg. He served in the Commissariat Depot, later served in Warsaw.

Pushkin's father had an excellent French education and was a talented amateur poet. In this field, his brother Vasily achieved great success. He collaborated with leading magazines ("Bulletin of Europe"), was engaged in translations. Talent nephew admired Vasily Lvovich, about which he repeatedly declared publicly.

Sergei Lvovich, among others, owned the village of Boldino, where the famous autumn of the poet Pushkin was held.

Brothers and sisters

Pushkin's family was very large, but according to the confluence of tragic and temporary circumstances, only two of the seven brothers and sisters were alive - elder sister Olga and brother Lev.

Olga Sergeyevna grew very well-read girl, she was not alien to creativity. With her brother Alexander she was very friendly, they spent a lot of time walking and talking. Subsequently, Pushkin will devote his sister a few poems.

Olga married a secret adviser to Nikolai Pavlishchev and lived with him in a happy marriage. Their son Leo wrote memoir memories of his famous uncle.

Pushkin's brother , Lev Sergeevich, was his close friend and literary secretary. Participated in the Persian-Turkish, Polish campaign, for some time he lived in Warsaw.

Since 1836, he served as captain in the Caucasus, where he learned about the death of his brother. For Leo this was a real tragedy, he even wanted to shoot himself with Dantes.

Since 1842 he lived in Odessa, where he married, and where his four children were born.

Wife

The wife of Alexander Pushkin - Natalia Goncharova - was born in 1812 in the family of the hereditary nobleman Nikolai Goncharov and his wife Natalia Nikolaevna, the maid of honor of the empress.

They met in 1828 at a ball. A few months later, Pushkin had already asked her parents for a blessing. But they were married only in 1831. The first time the couple lived in seclusion in Tsarskoe Selo, but later they were forced to return to St. Petersburg, because Natalia was invited to the court by the empress.

In 1832, the first-born daughter Maria was born to the couple. The Pushkin family was in a difficult financial situation, since life in Petersburg was not cheap.

In 1835 Natalia met with Dantes, a French citizen. This fateful meeting will serve in the future cause of accusations of Natalia Nikolaevna in all troubles.

On January 27, a tragic duel took place, which took the life of the great poet. His wife was with him until the last minute. After the funeral, Goncharova decided to leave the capital. Now the main business of her life was caring for children.

Descendants

Alexander Pushkin, whose family was very large, had four children: two sons (Alexander and Gregory) and two daughters (Maria and Natalia). Only Natalia and Gregory could get their heirs.

Great-grandchildren of Pushkin lived throughout the world. The only and last direct descendant living in our days is Alexander Pushkin. He lives in Belgium, is engaged in public and charitable activities.
