The prison in Norway is a sanatorium for murderers

April 8, 2010 in the Norwegian city of Halden (Halden), the Norwegian King Harald V solemnly opened a penitentiary institution for people who committed serious crimes. This prison in Norway for three years does not give rest to photographers and journalists. Representatives of the press admire the interior and the conditions of detention.

Halden Fengsel is a Norwegian prison located on thirty two hectares of pine forest and furnished as a three-star hotel. The construction and equipment of the penitentiary complex lasted ten years. To this end, the state budget spent 1.5 billion Norwegian kroner (two hundred and fifty-two million US dollars).

The most famous prison in Norway is designed for the stay of two hundred and fifty prisoners. The contents of each convicted person in Halden Fengssel cost annually one million seventy-nine thousand Norwegian kroner (about one hundred and eighty-five thousand US dollars).

At first glance at the cozy rooms with an area of twelve square meters and you can not say that this is a prison. In Norway, prisoners spend in such cells with designer furniture up to twenty-one years. Legislation no longer permits. There is a shower, refrigerator and LCD TV on the wall. Windows without grids are equipped with durable glass.

The most humane prison in Norway still does without a pool, but prisoners are allowed to spend an hour and a half each day in the gym.

In prison there are production workshops, but nobody forces to work. If the prisoner wants to work, then a day he can earn more than fifty-two Norwegian kroner (up to nine US dollars).

In a Norwegian prison paradise, prisoners should be kept in cells from half past eight in the evening until half past seven in the morning. All the rest of the time they can freely move around the territory and even walk unguarded in the pine forest.

Halden Fengsel is also the most peaceful prison in Norway. Most guards are women who work without weapons. Guards take food and go in for sports together with murderers, drug addicts and rapists. For three years in prison there are no shoots and fights.

In a Norwegian prison, prisoners eat in the common dining room. If you are tired of prison food, you are allowed to cook your own food yourself.

The main attraction of Khalden Fengsel is a recording studio. The local music group records here their albums and weekly broadcasts.

In prison there is a library, a winter garden, school premises, a shop.

Prisoners are entitled to three family calls within a week. For long meetings with relatives in the prison were built cottages.

Many have the erroneous opinion that the terrorist Anders Breivik, who in summer 2012 is sentenced to twenty-one years of imprisonment, is serving his sentence in Khalden Fengssel. Breivik is held elsewhere and under close surveillance. The prison of Breivik, a photo of which can be found on the Internet, is called Ila. The camera of the Norwegian terrorist is located in the heavily guarded wing of the male prison and consists of three rooms of eight square meters (study, gym, bedroom). Breivik is allowed only correspondence and walks in the courtyard under the supervision of the guard. Despite such conditions of detention, a person who deliberately killed seventy-seven people calls the guards sadists for occasionally bringing him not enough hot coffee.
