Reconstruction of the building and adjoining territory

In the first days and months after the reconstruction of the building, the management conducted a campaign for test flights, in which a large number of students and volunteers (150 people) took part. Also during the first month, the inspection of all services and communications was actively conducted, the level of service, the technical side and the quality of the work of the airport staff were assessed. The testing was carried out by the services of border control, customs inspection and other important structures.

Since 2010, major repair work has been carried out, which provided full reconstruction of the area. Its start was the transfer of OAO Belgorodavia to the regional use of federal property.

History of formation

Airport "Belgorod" appeared on the territory of Russia in 1954. At that time, active transportation to distant parts of the city required medical workers and postal correspondence. It was at that moment that the Kursk squadron was moved to the city to help local residents from remote areas. The airport had several types of air cars, designed for two seats. The planes were single-engine, and the landing was made on the ground strips. Service personnel, pilots and staff members of the structure lived on the airport in small houses. In all there were about 20 people.

Three years later, more powerful machines, four-seated, began to be used. Such aircraft as the Yak-12, could transport local residents and a sufficient volume of cargo. At the same time, the staff and the flight zone were expanded. The airport began to have its own meteorological station.

Basic directions of flights

Year after year the airport "Belgorod" is improved, the number of aircraft units is added. In addition, the opportunities for pilots are also growing.

In the 1960s, the radius of aircraft flight covered several cities, such as Anapa, Kiev, Sochi, Donetsk, Moscow, Poltava. By the 1980s, there was the possibility of direct communication with Astrakhan, Tyumen, Simferopol, Lipetsk, Krasnodar, Murmansk and many other settlements. On the territory of the airport, the first hangars were built, in which repairs and maintenance of aircraft were carried out.

By 1985, the international airport was Belgorod. Flights began to go to all major cities in the Caucasus, Ukraine, the Baltic and Siberia. 1995 opens the air borders of communication with Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel.

In the 2000s, the airport receives and makes flights to various destinations - China, Hungary, Cyprus and others. From this time, structural changes begin. In 2002 the Belgorod plant was transformed into the Belgorod State Aviation Enterprise. Then it was finally reorganized and renamed into OAO Belgorod Aviation Enterprise.

In 2005, the leadership liquidated the flight detachment and stopped using the aircraft. Since then, the airport "Belgorod" limited flights, and the level of regular flights has significantly decreased.

After the transfer of the airport to the property of the region, it was actively started to carry out reconstruction, construction and repair work.

New development and design of the building

A specially created commission on the issues of reconstruction carried out accurately every step and every meter of the forthcoming large-scale construction. According to all points of the project, the airport building and the adjacent territory were subjected to the following changes:

  • Expansion of the runway. For the qualitative use of modern aircraft, the runway strip needed to be increased to such dimensions: 2500 m in length and 45 m in width. To strengthen the resistance to the upcoming load, the sheet itself was reinforced with a high-strength layer of asphalt concrete.

  • Increase in the reception of aircraft. The project is specially designed for the maximum convenience of accepting several air vehicles and their quick deployment. The aprons, places for preventive and repair maintenance have been reconstructed, the number of parking places for aircraft has been significantly increased.
  • Effective flight control. A new comfortable control room has been created to operate at a higher level. The newest means of communication and radio navigation have been installed. The new lights of the modern light-signal system will allow even in the worst weather conditions to clearly see the lane and calmly land the aircraft.

Airport Belgorod today

Given the scale of the large-scale operation, today it is one of the most modern places that can take and place on its territory the demanded cars - Airbus-321, IL-76, Airbus-319, Tu-154, Boeing-737 and other models of airplanes of all modifications .

The new airport "Belgorod" for today serves the entire city and region. In the next 10-15 years, he will undoubtedly remain one of the most efficient and powerful airports in the country. If you look at the building from above, it looks like a flying seagull.
