The gap between the front teeth: a flaw or a highlight?

Surely each of you has seen people who have a gap between their front teeth. And, by the way, I saw not only on the street or in the circle of acquaintances, but also on TV screens and on the covers of fashion magazines. Vanessa Paradis and Madonna, Lara Stone and Brigitte Bardot and many other stars are proud to show this "flaw" to the cameras, without any embarrassment. For them, the gap between the teeth is not a flaw, but a highlight that makes them different from the others. And at the same time, thousands of men and women rush to the dentist, giving away almost the last money to make their teeth perfect.

It's no secret that every woman wants to be beautiful. But often the beauty turns out to be cold and not attractive at all, but something unusual in appearance attracts interest and makes a woman really attractive: a mole above the lip, slightly slanting eyes or a gap between the front teeth. Many movie and model business stars believe that it was such highlights that helped them to stand out in a crowd of flawlessly ideal beauties.

However, these examples do not stop girls who dream of a modeling career or just about an ideal smile. They quite seriously believe that curved front teeth prevent them from living, making a career and being happy. And in their own way they are really right - stereotypes are too strong and advertising is too active, which says that an open radiant smile is the key to a successful career and pleasant acquaintances. In addition, if for the self-confidence of a girl it is necessary to eliminate such a trifle as a gap between the teeth - then you must do it! Not for public opinion - for the sake of its tranquility.

It is for these girls that modern dentistry has come up with many ways to get rid of such problems as a gap between the front teeth (if it's right - the diastema).

So, why do many people (according to statistics - about 25% of the population) have diastema? As a rule, the gaps between the teeth are of hereditary origin. Also, their formation may result later loss of milk teeth, low bridle on the upper lip, abnormal dimensions of the incisors and even bad habits (gnawing pencils, for example). Sometimes the diastema is almost invisible, and sometimes very large. With age, it usually increases. There are two kinds of diastemes: true and false. The first is found on permanent teeth, and the second - on dairy. In the latter case, diestems tend to disappear when the permanent teeth grow, but with a true diastema, it is worth considering about the visit to the dentist, tk. Early correction provides a faster result.

There are several methods that help to remove the gap between the front teeth. What method to apply in each case determines the dentist.

1. Therapeutic treatment using veneers, or artistic restoration of the front teeth. It is made for one visit to the doctor. Veneers are special plates that are worn on the teeth. This method is considered sparing, because Teeth under the veneers practically do not grind. You can wear veneers for up to 10 years. In a word, the method is very convenient, but it does not always work.

2. Surgical method of frenulum cutting is used in case of low attachment of the bridle. In this case, it is sufficient to cut it, so that the diastema itself gradually decreases and disappears.

3. Orthodontic method - is a long (from 6 months to several years) method of eliminating the diastema. It is based on the use of braces - special devices that are attached to the teeth and help to eliminate not only the diastema, but also the remaining external defects of the teeth.

4. Orthopedic treatment - installation of crowns. Applicable in cases where no other method can be used, but the effect is impeccable.
