What kind of films can not leave any spectator indifferent, in spite of all the variety of feelings overwhelming him?

"Hatiko", "Impossible", "1 + 1", "Earthquake" - all these popular movies are based on real events. In a row with them stood the movie "127 hours", reviews about which in the majority - the most positive. For the first time hearing about it, many certainly ask: why 127? Is this the time it takes to escape, or, perhaps, to save a beloved girl? And maybe so many hours left to live the protagonist? We suggest to understand this.

The origins of film history

The story in the film "127 Hours", the plot of which was based on real life events of Aron Ralston, will not leave anyone indifferent. To be more precise, the basis for the work on the film was the book of Aron Ralston's memoirs "Between the Hammer and the Anvil". In it the author tells about the events that happened to him in April 2003 in the US state of Utah.

Aaron, being an extreme traveler and climber, dreamed of conquering all 55 peaks of America, each not less than 4 thousand meters in height.

April 26, 2003 Aaron Ralston went to his next adventure. Canyon Blue Jack Utah National Park is an unprecedented place of beauty. Walking through the deserted and almost deserted area, contemplating the natural strength and power, Aron did not even suspect what the journey would end with.

At some point in his campaign, Aaron noticed three huge boulders, they covered themselves with a small narrow passage away from the main route. He was interested in this gorge, and, trying to climb onto the boulders, Aron shook one of them. A huge boulder moved and tightly clamped the hand of the traveler's hand between each other and the rock.

Overcoming himself

Aaron tried to shake, even a little move the boulder from the spot, but in vain. A stone weighing almost 400 kg did not succumb to the persevering actions of one person.

So Aaron Ralston was left alone with a huge boulder in the middle of the desert. As his father Larry Ralston said afterward, Aron determined for himself 5 possible ways to get out of the situation: after all, to shake the boulder with the equipment at his disposal, to break the canyon wall, until it becomes possible to pull out the hand, patiently wait for the rescuers or independently amputate the hand , Stuck between a boulder and a rock. There was another way out - suicide, but Aaron, incredibly strong in spirit, immediately rejected this option.

Despite all attempts to defeat the boulder or rock, Aron was already in a deadly canyon for several days. It was pointless to wait for the rescuers, because none of his relatives and friends knew in advance the new route of Aron. He ran out of meager stocks of food and food, and he took a terrible decision: cut off his hand. At his disposal was only a stupid Chinese knife - a cheap forgery, and several bicycle spokes, of which Aron is building himself an impromptu chisel. He independently breaks the radial and ulnar bones, and then takes a knife in his left hand ...

The Rescue of Aron

Overcoming hellish pain, he gets out of the gorge. Salvation Aaron Ralston waited only a few agonizing hours, walking through the desert, hungry and dehydrated, more than 12 km. Aaron came across tourists from the Netherlands, they then summoned a rescue helicopter.

After discharge from the hospital, Aron continued to conquer the remaining peaks of the four-thousanders, and also did not quit extreme sports. In 2009, Aron married, his first child was born in a few months. Aron is now a real example of incredible courage and will to live.

127 hours: the beginning

A year and a half after the rescue, Aron Ralston released an autobiographical book, in which he described in detail the events that happened to him during those terrible 5 days.

A few years later, after reading this book, the famous director Danny Boyle decides to reassemble a team of first-class experts and make a qualitative film. With producer Christian Colson and screenwriter Simon Bofoy, Boyle worked on the "Slumdog Millionaire".

Boyle's desire to film this film initially frightened many: they were afraid that the viewer would not like to see throughout the movie the face of the same actor. But, having read the book of Arona and learning about its history, everyone came to one conclusion: it's worth it!

The main idea of Boyle was to immerse the viewer in that terrible gorge and, together with Aron Ralston, make him suffer pain and overwhelming fear, noticing how the hero's emotions change from panic to the desire to get out and survive at any cost.

Ralson and Boyle: first meeting

The first thing that the director had to do was to make the viewer believe him when watching the movie, it's to contact real Aron Ralston, to invite him to the set.

Aron met with Boyle in Utah in July 2009. The canyon did not frighten him, and, according to Ralston himself, he thanked this place for the life that she had opened to him.

Prior to imprisonment in that narrow gorge, Aron was a secretive, individualist by nature, he did not think about how his mother and father felt for him when he set out on his full-scale marches. But during those hardest lonely five days, when there was nowhere to hide from the scorching sun, and at night - to escape from the growing cold, Aron had time to rethink all his actions. By right, we can say that the second birth took place in Blue John.

The ideological component of the film

As Ralston himself says, by the end of the sixth day he was too exhausted, exhausted by thirst, sun and cold - and all this cleared his thoughts "until they were left with only emotional attachments", which would not let go and give up even in such a difficult situation .

Danny Boyle brought this idea to the film: he showed not only the opportunity to survive in a desperate situation, but also the desire to overcome the barrier in himself in relation to society and the closest people.

However, despite the idea, concluded in the film "127 hours", reviews about it are very contradictory. After viewing, some considered this film an excellent motivating story, while others called Aaron Ralston a crazy egoist who realized the value of the family only after the most tragic history of his life.

The main task of Boyle

Determined with the idea, the film team wondered who would play Aaron Ralston, who was left alone with his misfortune, in the film. This was to be, first, a very talented actor, and, secondly, his physical form should match the physique of Aron, a professional athlete and climber.

The man playing Aaron Ralston was supposed to be ready to work in the hardest physical conditions, where 99% of the time would be removed only by him. At the same time he had to show the whole possible range of emotions, most reliably communicating the feelings, thoughts and actions of his character.

James Franco became the actor of the first plan (and, in fact, the only character in the picture) of the movie "127 Hours". Aaron Ralston himself agreed with such a choice: "I was very glad to learn that this role will be performed by a person with such a set of dramatic roles. I knew from other works of James that he really likes to live the life of the character he is playing. "

In the footsteps of Ralston

Throughout almost the whole film, after the main character hits the gorge, the spectator watches Aron through a small tourist camera. For Franco, this experience has become unique, he had for many hours on the site did not interact with other actors. He was very interested in this project, the novelty of the shooting. The basis of them was the film dialogue with the viewer. According to Franco, he was happy to work with Danny Boyle in this project, despite the difficult physical conditions, when for many hours he had to be in the same position in the layout of the room. Often the actor left the site with bruises and scratches.

Franco had to pass on his game all the personal experiences of his hero. In this he really helped real records of Aron Ralston. At the time of complete despair, Aron recorded an address to his relatives and friends, a kind of testament in which he said goodbye to them.

Also, Ralston showed James Franco the possible poses in which he was during his long imprisonment, and even explained how exactly he held the knife during the amputation.

After meeting, Ralston and Franco went to the mountains together for a long time. For the actor it was important to see the prototype of his hero in the real environment, in his native element.

"127 hours": actors and roles

The composition of the picture is not rich, because in 90% of the entire tape events unfold in a narrow gorge around James Franco.

Franco is not only engaged in acting, he also works on films as a director and script writer, is a co-founder of the production company.

For the role in the movie "127 Hours" James Franco was nominated for the "Golden Globe" and even "Oscar".

Speaking of the film "127 Hours", actors who play the role of a secondary plan can not be ignored, because thanks to their work, the viewer watches as Aron's striving to return to society grows over time. Lizzie Kaplan, Amber Tamblyn, Keith Mara, Clemence Poesy perfectly coped with the task.

Poetry plays in the film "127 Hours" Aron's favorite girlfriend Rana. The international recognition of the actress was due to the role of Fleur Delacour in the movie "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." Clemence Poesy is not only a talented actress, she is also engaged in modeling business. In 2007, Poesy became one of the persons of the Chloe trademark.

Another close girl of Aron Ralston in the film is his sister Sonia, played by Lizzie Kaplan. According to the plot of the film, Aron did not answer his sister's call before leaving for the canyon, which he regretted many times, being confined to the rock of the gorge. Lizzie Kaplan viewers can also see in the movie "Allies".

A lot of enthusiastic responses "127 hours" deserved it thanks to the game of his acting staff.

Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara play "127 Hours" at Aron's new friends - Megan McBride and Christy Moore, whom he met in the canyon shortly before the tragedy.
