The feminine and the masculine: the symbols "yin" and "yang"
The whole universe consists of two energies, male and female. So the ancient Chinese thought. They believed that these forces constantly interact, complement each other, manifest themselves to a greater or lesser extent. Their symbols are "yin" and "yang", depicted in pairs, as a sign of harmony of two opposites.
Women's energy
The feminine principle and the masculine principle is in every living being. One of them always dominates and displaces the opponent, so it is important for a person to learn how to balance between the two poles that live inside. Female energy is intuition, our inner self. It affects the perception of the world, creative abilities, emotions, sensations. This beginning helps to contact the source of the highest Wisdom. It is always passive, often trying to fill a void, spreading like water, labyrinths of essence.
Male energy
Unlike the female, it is active, even aggressive. She inherent action: the embodiment of "yin" in reality, its materialization. Male energy is not internal feelings, fantasies and dreams. She is responsible for thinking, intellect, speech, logic. Helps us to act in the surrounding world, adapt to society and the environment.
Interaction
Harmonization of the male and female origins is a logical process, because people have long since said that the two opposites invariably stretch towards each other. How does this manifest in our everyday life? The best example is the analysis of the stages of creativity.
Everything begins with an impulse, a fantasy, an intuitive vision. For example, the artist mentally represents the image of the future picture, he knows that this will invariably be a landscape. What is this: "yang" or "yin"? Female or masculine? Of course, this is the dark energy of mother earth, which fills all imagination and pushes to action.
The master reacts to the received information and transfers it to the canvas - this is the man's beginning. It helps to detail the images, determine their location, shape, color and foreshortening. Without the interaction of "yin" and "yang," there would not be a finished product in the form of a picture. The suppression of male energy leads to the fact that the idea remains only in our head and can not materialize. If the female principle is not sufficiently developed, a person experiences creative pains: a lack of imagination, a useless search for a muse.
Roles
Based on all of the above, their distribution is clear to us. Women's energy is the guide to action, the male is the act itself and its result. In this case, the absence of one half makes life inferior, one-sided. The feminine principle and the masculine principle are inseparable. Their merger, the distribution of their roles 50 to 50 - is the ideal formula to which everyone should strive.
Male and female beginning: symbol
He is portrayed as a vicious circle. This means that everything on the earth is infinite. Two halves, divided into equal parts, painted black and white. This contrast emphasizes their opposite and equality at the same time. The circle is broken not by a solid line, but by a wavy one, which creates the illusion of penetration into one another of the female and the male. Looking at the symbol, you understand that two elements affect each other and interact. It is shown with the help of the eyes: in the black female it is white, in the light male it is dark. It turns out that "yang" looks at the world with the eyes of "yin" and vice versa.
Symbol history
It is assumed that initially the image of "yin" and "yang" imitated the view of the mountain, which is illuminated on one side, and the other half is in shadow. This state of affairs can not continue forever: the sun moves along a trajectory - accordingly, the two sides of the mountain change their colors. It was meant that everything in the world is cyclical.
Ancient Chinese borrowed the image from Buddhists. The exact date is unknown, but historians say that it happened in the 1st-3rd centuries of our era. It was then that the concept of "mandala" arose in the teachings of Taoism - the feminine and the masculine. The pictures depicting their interaction were first drawn as fish.
Elements
There are only five of them. The fusion of the male and female beginnings "generates" fire, water, air, earth and metal. These are the five phases of existence and its transformation. These natural phenomena first arise, then develop, reach a peak and die, but do not disappear without a trace, but only degenerate into another element. This happens endlessly. It is a hint at the existence of reincarnation: the soul after death can come to this world in the form of an animal, plant or other person. In the rebirth of the Chinese did not believe. But since the Buddhists lent them a sign, the doctrine of reincarnation gradually migrated from India to the Celestial Empire.
Interestingly, "yin" and "yang" are used even in medicine. At the heart of the Chinese, Tibetan and Japanese sciences is the balance in the human body. Its violation can lead to illness and death, mental suffering and mental disorders. Restore balance will help a special diet and meditation. The feminine and masculine principles are balanced, and this leads to healing. Eastern medicine treats not physical symptoms, but spiritual foci of the onset of the disease.
Attraction
Since the male and female principles are present in each of us in different proportions, we are initially looking for something that we lack. If "yin" dominates, we are drawn to a partner with a strong "yang", and vice versa. While a person does not balance his two halves, only people of a certain type of character, way of life and even appearance will pay attention to him. Look at your partner and you will see what is missing personally for you.
Energy exchange
It is very important in the life of every person. People should understand that you can not only receive and not give anything in return. Even if you fall on the head of another freebie, remember that for it sooner or later have to pay. Often the most expensive and important for you. If the principle of energy exchange is violated, a person becomes a consumer, loses respect, friendship and success.
