The factory "Mercedes" in Russia. The project of Daimler concern for the construction of a Mercedes plant in the Moscow region

As is known, at the moment in Russia there are two joint Russian-German production, which was launched by a powerful concern Daimler AG. This is a project with Nizhny Novgorod GAZ, which issues Sprinters of the 2001 model, as well as cooperation with KamAZ, which gives the country several types of commercial trucks and buses. This is all that is produced by the famous "Mercedes" within our vast homeland. However, the plans of the Germans regarding the conquest of the territory of the Russian Federation on this clearly do not end.

For about two years in the press rumors have been circulating that the German conglomerate plans to launch in our country a fairly powerful enterprise for the production of its famous cars. As a basis for such were called ZiLa and KamAZ sites. Also, there was information about intentions to create production capacity in the St. Petersburg area, but the Germans failed to agree with the government of the Leningrad region. In a word, the movement in this direction took place, however, it seems, is still there.

Will Mercedes build a plant in Russia?

It seems, yes. In the summer of 2016, data appeared on the creation of a joint factory for the production of Mercedes cars on the territory of the Moscow Region. About this landmark event and will be discussed in this small material. But first things first.

Confidence that this will finally happen is confirmed by information received from the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the media, which was announced by the deputy director of the relevant department of Vsevolod Babushkin, that the ministry approved the project at the preliminary stage. And sort of like the next word for the leadership of the Moscow region, on which the further movement of this initiative now depends. It remains to be hoped that the project will not die, ground with a bureaucratic machine, as happened several years earlier in the Leningrad region.

Infrastructure

Industrial Park "Esipovo", in whose territory it is planned to develop future production, is the territory, which is still under construction. It is located in the direction of M10 32 km from MKAD near the town of Solnechnogorsk. It is in the design stage, and the acceptable level of infrastructure preparation here will be achieved only by 2019. So there is enough time for proper coordination and subsequent deployment.

To give the reader a little guidance in terminology, a definition should be given. Industrial park "Esipovo", as well as other objects under construction or being in the design stage in the Moscow region, is a specially organized territory where all the necessary infrastructure for large-scale industrial production will be located. In particular, for the designated park, it is planned to create a volume of electricity supply in the amount of 50 MW by 2017. And also gas supply, creation of own water intake and appropriate treatment facilities.

Cooperation with GAZ

Own factory "Mercedes" in Russia is the old aspiration of Daimler. Of the existing production facilities, it should be noted joint production in Nizhny Novgorod. Here, successful cooperation resulted in the established production line for the low-tonnage commercial vehicle Sprinter.

In addition, a 2.2-liter Mercedes Benz diesel is produced at Russian facilities. The plant in Yaroslavl is engaged in the production of this engine specifically for GAZ.

KamAZ

Another successful enterprise in the Russian Federation that produces German commercial vehicles is PJSC "KamAZ". Everything began here with the production of cabins for Chelny trucks, which were manufactured since 1976. Although they aroused popular love, they are currently lagging behind the standards dictated by time. So, KamAZ moved to the cockpit, produced for the model Actros. Now this Mercedes plant in Russia produces more than 30 different modifications of trucks and buses at the production facilities of the auto giant from Naberezhnye Chelny.

Localization of world auto giants

This is the general information on the already existing Mercedes projects, normally functioning, but all this is the production of commercial vehicles. But what about the famous cars of business and executive class, crossovers and many other types of bodies that are only being exported to Russia? As you know, almost all world brands have already built their localization in our country.

Among them can be identified Toyota, Volkswagen, BMW, Mazda, Kia, Ford and some others. All of them, in one way or another, invested quite a lot of money in setting up production of cars on the territory of the Russian Federation. Here you can find both a "screwdriver" assembly, and more advanced versions with stamping, welding and painting.

Project Daimler AG

While it is not reported on the amount of investment in the plant Mercedes in the suburbs. But it is on the basis of at least an indicative amount of investments that it will be possible to talk about what level of localization is planned by Daimler AG. For example, if the volume of investment is about $ 10 million, then it's a banal "screwdriver" assembly, which will mean a very small decrease in the final cost of the Russian Mercedes compared to the imported version. But if the amount is close to a billion, it means a serious line with stamping parts, welding, etc.

For example, in 2014, BMW planned to invest in the creation of a plant in Kaliningrad about 1.5 billion euros. And then it was a question of deep localization and the volume of output of up to 80 thousand cars a year. Another conversation that nothing happened. The crisis of the Russian automotive market did not allow the project to go beyond the negotiations of the leaders of the German concern and the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant, which, incidentally, is now releasing a BMW of "Russian" production.

Modern realities

The Mercedes plant in Russia, which is now so much noise, is planned against a background of a serious recession in the automotive market of our country. Since 2013, when it has just started its downward movement, sales volumes have fallen by almost half. To the credit of the company "Mercedes", their position against the background of other automobile giants fell much less. And if you take the share of sales in the total flow, it even grew from 1.2% of the total volume of the market in 2012 to 3% in 2015. In 2016, this figure fell slightly to 2.6%. That is, sales of the concern do not fall at such a serious pace as the rest.

In addition, if the factory "Mercedes" in Russia starts to produce the planned volumes, which, by the way, will approximately amount to 25 thousand cars a year, as representatives of Daimler say, there is a possibility of a serious increase in the share of public procurement. Since Russian officials can only order cars produced on the territory of our country, most likely, a large demand for the brand will give an opportunity to raise the total sales volume quite well at the expense of this market.

Conclusion

In fact, Daimler's troubles in creating their own production of cars in Russia, as it seems, must find a worthy logical conclusion. Moreover, the great work carried out by the concern in previous years clearly gave them a great deal of experience, how to behave with Russian officials and legislation specific for them.

The Mercedes plant in Russia, where the real production of their cars is located, that is, a hybrid of KamAZ and Daimler, shows that cooperation is possible. Now it remains to be hoped that the authorities of the Moscow region will be able to agree on all the subtleties that are lacking. For example, there is information that the industrial park Esipovo, on whose territory it is planned to create this production unit, has problems with local nature protection structures, which, incidentally, are against deforestation, where the future plant will be located.

Whatever the case, the Moscow region is interested in the appearance of such a project on its territory. We will expect a positive decision and the subsequent launch of the production of modern cars "Mercedes" of Russian production.
