The "Otinum" preparation describes the instructions for use as a clear solution, which has a characteristic smell and yellow color. No foreign particles in the medicine should be observed.

The active substance - choline salicylate (0.200 grams), and auxiliary such as 96% ethanol (0.100 grams), glycerol (0.130 grams), chlorobutanol hemihydrate (0.005 g) and purified water (up to 1 g) .

The drug "Otinum" instruction refers to the extensive pharmacotherapeutic group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Active active substance of the drug in question (choline salicylate) is nothing but a derivative of salicylic acid. When applied locally, it acts on inflammatory foci and anesthetizes problem areas. The basis of its action is oppression of the activity of cyclooxygenase (an enzyme that activates the production of prostaglandins). In addition, the drug "Otinum" (the instruction informs) is detrimental to fungi and microbes in alkaline and acidic environments.

Twenty percent solution, applied topically, eliminates or alleviates pain. The drug is characterized by good absorption after application to the mucous membranes.

The "Otinum" preparation is recommended for use as a local symptomatic medication and anesthetic in the following cases: with development of acute middle or external otitis media; At a posttraumatic otitis and after extraction of foreign objects; With the goal of getting rid of sulfuric plugs.

Contraindications to the use of the drug are: hypersensitivity to the active or other components of the drug; With bronchial asthma, hives, acute rhinitis (associated with the use of acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), violation of the integrity of the tympanic membrane.

The drug "Otinum" (instruction on use sharpens its attention to this) with special caution is prescribed for allergic ("hayne") runny nose. Also, one should not neglect precautions for polyps of mucous nasal passages. Under the supervision of a specialist, the "Otinum" medication is used during pregnancy and lactation.

Among the side effects are allergic reactions and a decrease in hearing quality (with prolonged use in patients whose integrity of the tympanic membrane is impaired). That is why the drug "Otinum" for children under one year is prescribed in rare cases.

The pharmaceutical agent in question is used topically. It is instilled in the ear with a pipette of three to four drops several times a day. If it became necessary to dissolve sulfuric plugs, a few days before they are removed, a similar number of drops are injected twice a day.

Before the procedure, it is necessary to heat the vial with the medication (hold it in the hand), since when a cold preparation gets into the ear canal, extremely unpleasant sensations arise.

This drug should be instilled in the supine position on the side, the field of which it is recommended that the patient remain in this position for at least fifteen minutes.

The duration of the therapeutic course is ten days.

When using the drug to treat children and the elderly, there is no need to change the dosage.

It has been clinically proven that this medication enhances the effect of other anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agents.

The drug is available in polyethylene bottles with a capacity of 10 grams.

The medicinal product has a shelf life of thirty-six months. In pharmacies, it can be purchased without a prescription.
