The drug "Genferon" is produced in the form of candles of rectal and vaginal one hundred twenty five thousand units of active substance in packs of ten. The action of the drug combined, both local and systemic, is due to those components that are included in it.

The composition of the preparation "Geferon" (candles) is described as follows:

Human recombinant alpha-2b-interferon, which is produced by a strain of Escherichia coli bacteria , with the genetically engineered human alpha-2b interferon gene . This substance acts as an antiviral, antibacterial and antiproliferative. Taurine normalizes metabolism and tissue regeneration, shows antioxidant activity, enhances the therapeutic effect of interferon, contributing to the preservation of its biological activity.

The pharmacokinetics of the preparation "Genferon" (candles) is described in the following way:

Rectal administration of the drug provides a high, up to eighty percent bioavailability, thanks to which not only local but also strong systemic immunomodulatory effects are noted. But with intravaginal introduction, local antiproliferative, antiviral and antibacterial effect comes to the fore, systemic exposure is insignificant, due to the low ability of the vaginal mucosa to suck. The maximum concentration is reached five hours after the administration. The main way to remove interferon is renal catabolism. The half-life of the drug is carried out in twelve hours, and, therefore, it must be administered twice a day.

Indications for the use of the drug "Genferon suppositories" instruction describes these:

In the form of one of the components in the complex therapy of infectious pathologies of viral origin. For sanation of infectious and inflammatory diseases of urogenital organs in women, including pregnant women, and children. Apply strictly according to the doctor's prescription. The usual dosage of candles for babies under the age of seven is one rectal or vaginal candle per hundred twenty-five thousand IU. For older children and adults, suppositories with a dosage of two hundred and fifty thousand IU are used.

Treatment regimen for the preparation "Genferon" (candles) the instruction describes the following:

Acute pathologies of the infectious-inflammatory nature of urogenital organs in children: one candle twice a day rectally with a break at twelve o'clock. Duration of application - ten days.

Urogenital diseases of an infectious-inflammatory nature in pregnant women - one suppository vaginally twice a day with a break at twelve hours, for ten days.

Urogenital infections of an infectious and inflammatory nature in women: one suppository of two hundred and fifty thousand IU, either rectally or vaginally (depending on the nature of the pathology) twice a day, with a break of twelve hours, for ten days.

In the case of the development of protracted forms of pathologies, three times per week, one day, one suppository, one to three months are used.

In case of acute viral infectious and inflammatory pathologies, the preparation "Genferon" (suppositories) recommends the administration of one suppository twice a day rectally with a break at twelve hours in parallel with the main therapy for five days. If the symptomatology persists, the course of therapy should be repeated after five days.

If chronic viral infectious-allergic diseases develop in children, the candles "Genferon light" are applied one rectally twice a day with a break at twelve hours, parallel to the main therapy for ten days, and then one to three months - one rectum Every day at night.
