The capital of Iceland is the amazing city of Reykjavik
The modern capital of Iceland is represented by the largest city of the country - Reykjavik. His story began when Ingolv Arnason, a Viking, ended up on this land and built himself a farm in 874. Literally Reykjavik translates as a "smoky bay". This is due, first of all, to the fact that steam from the hot springs that were here, impressed the settlers. The city around the farm began to be built only in the 11th century, after the founding of woolen workshops by the royal treasurer. And already in 1786 Reykjavik was decided to assign the status of the city.
