The Zerkalny health camp is located in the Leningrad Region, on the territory of the Vyborg District. The country children's center was built on the shore of a picturesque lake of glacial origin on the Karelian Isthmus. History of the Camp
"Mirror" camp (site: www. Anichkov. Ru / departments / camp) was created in the ecologically clean forest area of the Leningrad Region as a suburban department of the city Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren named after Andrey Aleksandrovich Zhdanov. Today it is renamed the Palace of Young Creativity. It was an exclusive and rather closed institution. The "Zerkalny" camp acted as a visiting card for the pioneers of the Leningrad Region and for many years officially in various newspapers and magazines was called "the camp of the Young Pioneer and Komsomol activists of the schools of Leningrad." He for a long time was a place of rest and recovery of future party workers, and therefore very much attention was paid to the so-called political studies.
The development of this camp was noted throughout the entire period of its existence. Methods of working with children were constantly developed, traditions of ecological, labor and political education were formed. At the same time, it is especially worth noting that most of the techniques were introduced in parallel with Orlenok and Artek.
The first stage in the life of the camp
The first stage in the life of such a children's institution as the Zerkalny camp is the period from 1965, when the first meeting was held to design the future center, until 1979, when the camp celebrated its decade. During this time, the school building, the sailor's house, the floating base, the concert hall for six hundred seats, the house of the youth, the stadium with a football field, administrative buildings, various auxiliary rooms and outbuildings were put into operation. Particularly should be noted and the first two shifts, which held this camp. Each of them was indicative. The first shift was organized for the chairmen of the councils of the Leningrad squads, in the second shift the health center was visited by the secretaries of numerous school Komsomol organizations. It is also necessary to note 1973 as the year in which the work on the scheme of the winter and summer seasons of the camp was established. In turn, 1974 was marked by the beginning of the patronage of the health center by the universities of the city of Leningrad. After a while, the buildings for cultural events were put into operation, which allowed to significantly increase winter shifts, thus providing training for children of different age groups.
The second stage in the life of the camp
The second stage of the camp's life is connected with 1980-2010. During this period, Zerkalny camp managed to receive the Friendship Train, which brought a delegation of children from the GDR, to begin receiving students of the fourth and ninth classes throughout the school year, and to receive an official delegation from Cuba. In addition, at the same time, this wellness center was awarded the "Memorial banner of the Leningrad Komsomol." Due to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the financing of the camp, which all this time existed within the framework of political ideology, ceased. However, even after that the center continued its work, as it was always distinguished by its favorable location and developed infrastructure. During the period from 1991 to 1993, the symbols of the camp were fully updated, including the coat of arms, flag, anthem, banner, monogram, mascot and logo. After some time, the school for children received an official number - 660. From 2006 to 2010, the children's camp "Zerkalny" underwent a comprehensive reconstruction. On its territory there were new stone cottages and a modern sports complex.
Current work of the camp
Since the 1990s, trips to the "Mirror" camp can be purchased all year round. The center accepts children both in the cold and in the warm season. To do this, its own system of economic activities is in place, responsible for the state of eighty-six buildings and structures. For example, there are three water pump stations, a boiler room, two water treatment stations, a diesel generator and a transformer station, a laundry, a trucking enterprise and a gas station of its own.
Capacity of camp
The capacity of the Zerkalny health camp directly depends on the season. In winter, the center can simultaneously receive no more than two hundred to two hundred and ten children. At the same time, the developed curriculum is designed exclusively for students of the fifth-ninth grade. During school holidays, the camp is open to children between the ages of six and fifteen. As for the summer period, the capacity of the center in such a season is significantly increased due to the tent camp and summer cottages. As a result, the camp has the ability to simultaneously take six hundred and thirty people. As a rule, two counselors are attached to each detachment. At the same time in one group can be from twenty-five to forty people.

Separately, we should talk about a number of interesting places that are in the camp's territory and are closely intertwined with its traditions. For example, one of the main attractions of the children's center "Zerkalny" is a large boulder, split in half and located on the shore of the lake. He is referred to in the camp as "Broken Heart". Also it should be said about the monument to the deceased aircraft.
Its history is directly connected with the surrounding islands. It was in this area several dozen years ago that a fragile Soviet aircraft was destroyed, which was killed in the Second World War. Some of them were collected by schoolchildren and later installed as a monument. And, finally, it is necessary to say about the main gate of the camp, through which, by virtue of geographical features, the main road passes. In this place it is customary to greet and say goodbye to the center.
Camp Symbols: flag and crest
Flag of the camp "Zerkalny" was created in 1993 by the artist Serebryannikov. It symbolizes the unity of children and adults. The colors used in the flag represent such basic values as succession of generations (red), creativity (white), romance (blue) and interrelation with nature (green). As for the camp's coat of arms, it was designed only six years ago and is a golden shield. In the upper part of it there is an abbreviation of ZTSDYUT, in the middle - a schematic image of the blue sky, silver sun, green spruce and red waves. At the bottom of the heraldic shield you can see a stylized picture with a tent and date - "1969", and under it - an open book. Around this picture there is a green ribbon that borders the whole shield and on which there is a gold inscription "Mirror camp". The official coat of arms of the children's center may be reproduced in a mirror image and in a one-color version.
How to get to the camp
You can get to the camp today in two ways - by road or rail. In the first case, you need to go to the Primorskoe Shosse and follow it until the thirty-second kilometer. After the signpost to the camp, turn right, then continue for another eleven kilometers to the main gate of the wellness center.
