In 1942, the future actor graduated from the flying school, received the profession of a fighter. Zubkov reluctantly told about these years. A hero like those who were dedicated in the postwar years of the book and the film, he did not. I just did my duty honestly.

After the war, Zubkov met a girl who later became his wife. With Nina Valentin Ivanovich lived more than thirty years. Their family happiness could last longer. But Kulidzhanov, despite this, invited Zubkov to test. The role of Stepan is one of the brightest in the artist's work.
