The best films about dances: the list of all parts of the franchise "Step Forward"

"Step forward" - one of the most untwisted dance franchises. If you list the best movies about dancing, the list should begin with this series of films.

The first part appeared on the screens in 2006. She enlarged the category of films not only about modern dances, but also the section "Films about ballroom dances", as the main characters in the narrative interfere in their break-dancing break dance performances with classical ballet.

In 2008, the picture "Step Up: Streets" was released. This time the action moved to Baltimore, and the main character is a member of a street dance group. She desperately wants to break out of the entourage of streets into the world of big and serious art, but there are many obstacles in her way.

"Step forward" paid off well at the box office, so in 2010 there was a continuation of the franchise in 3D, and in 2012 - the fourth part with the participation of Playboy star Catherine McCormick. In 2014, the last film was released: "Step Up: All or Nothing." Revenue from his hire in theaters was not impressive, so there is nothing to hear about the next part yet.

"Street dance"

The main competitor of the franchise "Step Forward" is a series of films called "Street Dances".

The first picture was released in 2010 in 3D format. It starred stars such as Charlotte Rempling, Nicola Burley and Richard Winsor.

In 2012, the shooting of the movie "Street Dances-2" with the German actor Falk Henchel and the dancer from the Madonna troupe Sofia Boutella was over.

In 2013 the world saw "Street dances-3: All the stars." As for the fourth part, the producers have not yet made any statements.

"Dirty Dancing"

30 years have passed since the world first saw "Dirty Dancing" with Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray in the lead roles. Many actors who starred in this picture, have long been dead. However, until now, many viewers are happy to revise the story of professional dancer Johnny and his adorable pupil Francis. In this picture, not only a lot of dancing, but still a lot of love and simple human stories.

"Kings of the dance floor"

In 2013, youth films about dancing gathered full cinema halls. On this wave, the "Kings of the dance floor" with Josh Holloway in the title role were filmed.

Speech in the picture is about the team of breakdance dancers, who set a goal to win at the original "Olympic Games" for b-boys. The thing is that the guys will have to fight against very powerful opponents from all over the world. The dance company was not an easy one: all team members have different characters, social status, threshold of endurance. To have more chances of success, they persuade one of the most severe coaches to prepare them for the championship. That's where the fun begins: Will Josh Holloway's hero be able to rally these guys and make them one?

"Make a step"

Films about modern dances in 2008 were supplemented with the tape "Make a step" with Mary Winstead in the title role.

Mary Winstead plays in the picture a young girl Laurin, who came to Chicago to conquer the School of Music and Dance. But the girl was not as good as she thought: jury members did not appreciate her talents. To catch on in Chicago, Lorin was forced to get an accountant in a dance club. Looking through the papers, she looked longingly at the performing dancers and dreamed of ever being one of them. And then one day her wish came true ...

"Black Swan"

Movies about ballroom dancing are not so often. Perhaps the most notable work of recent years is Darren Aranofsky's Black Swan.

Speech in the film is about the ballerina Nina - a modest girl who dreams of a big role in a serious performance. When the theater's chief director decides to stage Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, Nina realizes that this is her finest hour.

On the tests the girl convinces that she is perfect for the role of a white swan. But when it's time to reincarnate into a passionate black swan, Nina just does not know what to do. Seeking to know the essence of a man's dark nature, a dancer embarks on all the serious: goes to night clubs, tries drugs, engages in same-sex sex. At the same time the ballerina continues to work hard, fearing more than anything that her role will be taken and given to someone else.

At the final performance, Nina is unique. However, by this time the girl, unable to bear the tension, is becoming completely insane and inflicting fatal wounds on her broken glass. Most likely, at the end of the film the dancer dies, although the director does not show the moment of her actual death.

Indian films about dances

Bollywood also devotes a lot of projects to dance art. If you list the best movies about dancing, the list of Indian paintings should begin with the famous "Disco Dancer", filmed in 1983. The clockwork soundtrack from this tape "Jimmy, Jimmy, Acha, Acha" knows the whole world. The film "Disco Dancer" is dedicated to the story of a poor man, who thanks to his talent turns into a real pop star.

In 1987, the director, who directed the Disco Dancer, created another similar film called "Dance, Dance." The main characters, Ramu and Radha - brother and sister, street dancers who wander from town to town. Rama is a very talented young man, he manages to make a decent career. But the longtime enemy of the family - Mr. Singh - continues to plot against his brother and sister, trying to break their lives, as he once broke the life of their mother and father.
