Stretch out the Hand of Help

Social workers will improve their skills.

In mid-December 2011 in Moscow, an important educational project "Stretch a helping hand" starts. The program is organized by the Limited Liability Company "Quality Standards" with the support of the Department of Family and Youth Policy of Moscow. The project is implemented on the basis of a training center near the metro station "Krasnoselskaya". The purpose of the program is to conduct a complex of innovative educational activities for social workers who work with families at risk of social orphanage.

Social orphanhood is a negative social phenomenon, in which a child becomes an orphan with live parents. To social orphanhood can lead, for example, such reasons as depriving parents of the child of parental rights, the mother's refusal of the baby immediately after his birth.

It is known that the best way to combat the negative phenomenon is its prevention. Prevention of social orphanage is carried out by qualified specialists. Professionals work with families who are most at risk of losing a child, making it a victim of social orphanhood.

Thematic educational activities "Give a helping hand" set a number of tasks aimed at strengthening knowledge, additional education, the formation of tolerance and the prevention of professional burnout of specialists in the social sphere of Moscow.

It is planned to attract representatives of the leadership of social institutions and scientists to implement the project "Stretch a helping hand". Thus, the doctor of sociological sciences Isabella Feodorovna Dementieva and the candidate of psychological sciences Nadezhda Petrovna Ivanova agreed to participate in the program.

Based on the materials of the best practices in the social sphere, a training program covering all areas of work with families at risk is compiled for the participants of the project "Give a helping hand", and a CD with materials of this program is created.

The authors of the program "Give a helping hand" express their hope for the creation of a permanent training program on the basis of one of the state universities dedicated to raising the level of professional skill and improving the quality of social work professionals in the prevention of orphans in families at risk.

It is important to note that about two hundred and fifty specialists of the social sphere will be involved in the process of forming the Moscow family policy and the prevention of social orphanhood.
