Startup Windows XP. What is it for and why does it work?

Even in our era of information technology and a huge number of gadgets that have long become for many an attribute of familiar life, not all PC users know how the operating system of their computer or laptop works, and what is needed for this or that utility. This article will tell you how Windows XP autoload works, and for which each user needs to know how to work with this application.

First, let's look at how any operating system from Microsoft works. When you click on the power button, all components are checked for operation, after successful passage of the computer starts to load the operating system itself. After the OS is booted, autoloading starts (Windows XP in this respect is no different from its predecessors and newer versions), which is responsible for launching some applications and system utilities. Over time, a list of utilities that start with a computer is supplemented with "unnecessary" programs that only slow down the system. Therefore, it is important for any user to know how to disable autoloading of some unused or extremely rarely used programs. How to do this, you will learn from the continuation of this article.

If you do not know how to "clean up" the startup from unnecessary programs, then first of all remember that you can do this in several ways. The simplest of them is the installation of a special utility that not only helps optimize the computer, but also tells you what to remove from the startup, and what is desirable to leave unchanged. These utilities can safely be attributed all the software, which serves to optimize the work of the PC. This is primarily programs such as CCleaner, PowerSuite, Magical Optimizer or their analogs.

Some programs can be removed from the startup list and without the help of third-party software. To do this, the user must visit the "Start" menu, in which to select the "Startup" submenu of Windows XP. After that, you will see a list of the software that starts with the start of the computer. If any of the utilities you do not need, you can simply remove it from this submenu and start it up with the PC turned on, it will no longer be. For the sake of justice it is worth noting that in this submenu not all programs are displayed, which are in autoload.

You can get to the programs launched at the start of the operating system in other ways, for example, by opening and examining the registry. But this method is suitable only for self-confident users, since, unsuccessfully correcting the registry, you can easily disable the entire operating system. To call the registry, you need to run the "Regedit" utility from the command line . On how to work with the Windows registry, you can find a lot of articles, and if you are not sure of your abilities, then you should not change anything in this list and even more so delete the lines from it.

Windows XP startup often does not contain too many programs, so it can not significantly affect the speed of your computer. If you want to achieve a large increase in PC performance by removing programs from startup, you can safely abandon this venture. Installing an additional RAM strip will increase the performance of your computer to a greater extent than the manipulation of the registry or startup.

But if you want to always have an order in the operating system of your computer, then it is desirable to engage in "revision" of programs launched with the computer at least once a month. And remember: if you did not install anything on the computer, then the startup of the operating system did not change during this period either.
